I do not shop or bank online but still get stooges trying to con me over the phone or via emails from places I never ever shopped at before or banks that I never dealt with. If I can I will jerk them around by tying up their time on the phone that way they are not hasseling someone who may fall for the scam. As for emails ? I just delete them right away, never open them ! Unfortunately con men have been around since the dawn of time and with all this technology/social media/online shopping they just see it as easy pickins !

General rules to avoid getting scammed. Never tell anyone who you are or what your account number is. If they are actually from the company they say they are they will already know this. Never give someone you credit card over email, never give someone your credit card before confirming that they actually belong to the company. Ask them how you know they are actually from the company they say they represent, If this makes them angry hang up, they are a scam. If you’re not sure, call the company by there listed number online and verify that the pro on the phone represent them.
They say the only good wolf is a dead wolf, If that’s the case than I’ve reformed many a wolf.
