    Default Investing in Raw Land.

    Found this interesting post on land investing and should be of interest to a few folks. On the video he says that land is very cheap to buy ,but that is much more of a challenge today.

    A forested property is good but with all the recent severe weather I have seen a lot of owners with a big blow down mess, also make sure your not buying on a place where you get seasonal flooding.

    I was told from the time I was a little kid that real estate was always a good investment because they're not making any more of it.

    Good read, thanks Gilroy and a "Amen" to Trimmer21 ! It's always a "caveat emptor" when buying something as some new neighbours found out. It seems that Norfolk County doesn't allow new building on the southside of the regional road because of the erosion factor of Lake Erie and certain woodlots get a tax break because of the special flora and fauna that inhabit the area and hence no building and/or cutting of trees in that area.

    This investing in land was passed onto me by a old MNR officer I meet when I was just starting out hunting, so that put the idea into me head
    after he did a routine check of me up in the Nonquon lands. The next time after I buy my first parcel my first hunting mentor reinforces this notion again and I buy a second place. Anyway apart from the financial part of it owning a piece of land gives us way more:

    A sense of pride in owning a piece of Canada
    A sense of responsibility to keep the place up.
    A place to go for peace and quiet.
    A place to meet rural folks and hear about their lives.
