No Diversity on Ontario Anglers and Hunters Show.
So I just finished watching a full half hour of the OFAH and OOD Anglers and Hunters show on a National television channel.
On the entire show there was a 2 second clip of a male person of color on a Mercury Engine advertisement, so congratulations to that company.
BUT on the rest of the show a complete absence of visible minorities in the main content of the show and other advertisements.
So I guess my question of the show and others reading "is it not time to do a little better".
Its 2022, we have about 34% of Ontarians being visible minorities and nothing shown of them?
I have good friends of color who hunt and there are many more, there are thousands of anglers from the far east.
So to the producers of this show and advertisers "are you aware of how this show looks to the general viewing public?
Many of these folks may not be members of the OFAH but they do BUY boats, fishing tackle, guns, ammunition, vehicles, SO WHY ARE THEY INVISIBLE FOR THE MOST PART ON YOUR SHOW?
Not to mention I do not believe I have seen a First Nations hunter/fisher person every on the show.

Well Gilroy I guess that’s up to the producers of the show.
Let’s not shame them into joining the woke revolution that the rest of society seems to be blindly following.

Bob and Wayne Izumi would give you one heck of an argument. Nobody needs that "woke" crap.

Maybe these "visible minorities" are using more modern platforms to showcase their skills and earn a living? There's plenty of diversity on YouTube, and really who cares? I grew up watching Bob Izumi even met him a couple of times and never even gave a second thought to ethnicity.

I think you're trying to pick a fight where none exists?

Did either of these guys work on the show I am talking about? I saw him on the real fishing show.

Well its not just this particular show in reality, there are a couple more that do the exact same type of coverage. Its as if a whole segment of society that buys ATV,s, guns, ammunition ,pick up trucks, trapping supplies do not actually exist.
Pretty amazing really and I hope some of the powers that be that might read this thread give it some consideration.

well if you haven't been offended yet today and told the world about it, your not trying hard enough.
Not sure why we need to divide society more than it already is, but its sure the liberal/woke way. I for one could care less what makes you special in your own mind, your no better or worse than everyone else. Perhaps if we stopped having to be so special we could just all be equal.

It's not about "woke." It's about numbers. Smart advertisers and programmers keep track of demographics and if those demographics shift they are at least keeping pace or, even better, ahead of the curve. Only a fool would turn his back on a third of a potential audience.
