I come to this website/forum to: relax, day dream about my sport, to learn something new, find out what is happening in Ontario in the world of hunting, fishing & shooting, and sometimes provide my advice/observations which are relevant to the topic. All the stuff about politics, vaccines, protests, etc. is not why I come here....and frankly I wish those who focus on these issues find another forum for the thoughts & opinions. Over the past few years, I am lucky to find 25% of the daily posts which interest me...the rest I ignore and don't read. This forum needs a Mission Statement and enforce it.

I don't mind the politics. When it is regarding firearms and legislation or proposed legislation it directly impacts or could impact my hunting.

Sure the covid was maybe a stretch for an outdoor forum... where do you draw the line?

With the way things are being manipulated or censored, I would rather just ignore the posts than not have them show up at all.

A couple of months ago,I decided to exit the political forums, permanently. I also limited what news I watched avoiding the doom-and-gloom channrls completely. It's amazing to me the incredible difference it's made in my outlook on life and general well-being. I don't regret that decision for one minute and I certainly don't miss it. FWIW,in fact,I highly recommend it.

    Great suggestion.
I feel real bad for old people stuck inside alone because of medical reasons. Must be really scary for them.

Been a member here for almost 10 years. I don't post for a lot of the aforementioned reasons.
Based on another forum I belong to with over 300k members, here's my opinion: the issue is politics.
The problem: OOD is owned by OFAH which requires significant political involvement and outdoor pursuits are often seen as politically polarizing so it's unlikely OFAH has a desire to separate politics from OOD Community Forum.
My suggestion: OFAH gets their own forum and all of the politics goes there. ALL politics on OOD Community Forum would be forbidden and that would have to be enforced .
The result: OOD Community Forum becomes a place to share stories, ideas, successes, failures, ask for help/guidance and mentorship without fear of starting some stupid political bickering.

    Very astute observation.
