Much of his talk I think was magic mushroom invented and his own, not a scientific opinion but there was some facts. The potential is large but the uptake and even corporate opposition will be problematic.



I grow the kits at home, I have had little success with the cultures, grain/straw spawn etc (some but very easily failures) and found the Oysters have short shelf life, produce at least 2 flushes and are almost idiot proof. The shiitake are at the other end of the spectrum and even fully cultured blocks produced nothing. Bears head and Lions Mane are close to Oysters in their easiness and great with most meat and are reported to have good medicinal potential etc. Morels and Wine caps can be grown in your garden and it was discussed in another thread awhile back and other than Oysters outdoor growing has been failures so far, so I will end it here and just list a few of the sources I have used over the last probably 5 years. The morel slurries recipe for growing on your own property is covered in the thread or online too and if you have some that have gone past their prime you may want to try making a slurry and putting around your yard. Odds of it working are small, BUT not zero and if you are going to throw out the old ones why not.

The kits from the above have all produced atleast 1 or 2 good flushes and have instructions with them and are alot easier than cultures etc and a thread on how to grow, the cultures, growing mediums etc. is ;arge and easily available online and can take up lots of time and money, often for small success unless you are dedicated so if you want to grow them try it out a kit from the above, it is easy or relatively so. I currently have Lions mane, Oyster and shiitake and an order out for Wine caps to see if I can get them to start in the garden.

After something like the Oysters kit is done, they can be used to put outdoors and you can do something like this. I only tried a small tests and the pink and blue oysters "after kit" produced some flushes last year that made me wish I had committed myself not gone "I wonder if this will work". There is a bale of hay in the shed waiting until the kit has run its course right now.



So try it, knowledge is good and so are the mushrooms, buffalo burgers (trulocal) and lions mane or shiitake or bears head fried up...

I was more impressed by fungi’s cleaning ability. Cleaning of contaminated soil from diesel and other oil byproducts is pretty cool. Medicinal purposes are great too. All very interesting.

Bacteria and fungi have alot of potential in pesticides, breaking down waste, medications etc., Lions Mane and Reishi and Turkeys tail have been the all been the subject of medical studies and seem to show alot of potential. These are also available and can be grown at home.
