We could get behind such a campaign if we were not already taxed to death.

I think that may would not be that bad of a thing, with many benefits:
higher prices-harder access
harder access-less wasted
less wasted-less environmental footprint to make new
better quality product-longer life span
longer life span-less garbage
domestically made product-jobs for our own
jobs for our own-improved quality of life for many
improved quality of life for many-increased domestic spending
jobs for our own-increased tax revenue for the country
increased tax revenue-less other taxes for everyone
the list goes on and on.
Remember-LaCrosse,or Sorel made in Canada?Or else.........
I have LaCrosse Grange over 16 years, use it outdoors at all the time(except in really cold)for everything in the bush.
The bloody thing still goes strong(sole is getting slippery from the wear though...).
I bet my spare-made in"overseas"will likely last 3 years,at best.............but it is still in the corner waiting for"its term"

Between cheap production rate overseas and cheap labour in Mexico (free trade decimated industry in cities like Kitchener) we will never see 'Made in Canada' goods dominate the shelves in any big box store.
Big issue in the States ...Trump wanted 'Made in U.S.' to proliferate again.... but it's called 'protectionism' by the Village Idiot and in violation with the Fee Trade agreement.
Our socialist 'cradle to grave' system of Heath care and benefits is making Canada a 'Bedroom Community' for the overseas rich that sell us their junk.
