Default Federal troops arrive at Bearskin Lake amid COVID-19 outbreak

If I hadn't seen it in print, wouldn't have believed it; The military is flying into a remote Indigenous reservation, so they can cut and deliver firewood...

It's only Jan....what happened to the firewood they should have had in place back last fall.

On Jan. 7, Bearskin Lake Chief Lefty Kamenawatamin said the remote community is “almost at a breaking point” after 201 of its 400 residents were infected with COVID-19, resulting in a state of emergency.

Kamenawatamin called on the federal government to send urgent aid in a news conference Friday, including staff to distribute essential supplies such as food, water and wood stoves to keep residents warm in temperatures as low as -30 C.

"But the problem is there's no boots on the ground. So whatever comes into the First Nation, there's no one there to deliver those things. there is no one there to cut the wood."

Something does not pass the smell test.

"Around 80 per cent of the community is vaccinated but they are short on testing kits and places to isolate, the chief said, which is now necessary for a large portion of residents."

MP, the article you posted say's the Chief has requested help, it doesn't say he's getting it? Where does it say the military is flying into Bearskin?

Be careful what you wish for Russell Williams might show up in full military drag with a snow shovel. https://tnc.news/2022/01/06/armed-fo...sKPwh099FTT-kk

Not the foot soldiers fault if leadership became a bunch of monkey pumping boot lickers instead of protecting our countrys' borders.
As for the wood cutting, I saw pics of piles of logs covered in snow, pretty sure everyone I know who plans for a winter that might be below freezing at times has those same piles, but they are down and ready to be bucked for the next few years, not this years heating season. Cut as you go is what you do with a Gyro or pastrami, not heating wood.
