    FDA Approves First COVID-19 Vaccine
Approval Signifies Key Achievement for Public Health

    For Immediate Release:
    August 23, 2021

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, and will now be marketed as Comirnaty (koe-mir’-na-tee), for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older. The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization (EUA), including for individuals 12 through 15 years of age and for the administration of a third dose in certain immunocompromised individuals.

“The FDA’s approval of this vaccine is a milestone as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. While this and other vaccines have met the FDA’s rigorous, scientific standards for emergency use authorization, as the first FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine, the public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality the FDA requires of an approved product,” said Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock, M.D. “While millions of people have already safely received COVID-19 vaccines, we recognize that for some, the FDA approval of a vaccine may now instill additional confidence to get vaccinated. Today’s milestone puts us one step closer to altering the course of this pandemic in the U.S.”

Since Dec. 11, 2020, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine has been available under EUA in individuals 16 years of age and older, and the authorization was expanded to include those 12 through 15 years of age on May 10, 2021. EUAs can be used by the FDA during public health emergencies to provide access to medical products that may be effective in preventing, diagnosing, or treating a disease, provided that the FDA determines that the known and potential benefits of a product, when used to prevent, diagnose, or treat the disease, outweigh the known and potential risks of the product.

You need to get your facts straight. The pilots were not jabbed with Comirnaty thus they have a lawsuit in progress.

I usually stop watching any anti-vaxx drivel right after the first outright lie. It only took a minute or two.

I will continue to fly with full confidence in the knowledge that what got me on that airplane was a ticket and my QR code.

    Anti-vaxxers remain grounded. LOL.

Your not flying anywhere when pilots are ordered grounded.
Thousands of flights cancelled over the holidays.
Your just a customer like everyone else regardless of the fact that you have a QR code stamped on your forehead....lol

And many tens of thousands of flights weren't cancelled. Mine for example.

That sort of response is as dumb as it gets.
Your flight wasn't cancelled, so thousands of other flights were not?
FFS - just google "flights cancelled".

Context matters. Thousands of flights were cancelled. Tens of thousands were not.

    https://financesonline.com/number-of-flights-worldwide/

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of daily flights dropped from 106,849 flights per day in 2019 to 74,297 in March 2020 (Statista, 2020). As of February 2021, the number is back up to around 151,435, down by 27,407 from the same period in 2020 (Flightradar24, 2021), which was prior to the pandemic.
In the U.S. alone the FAA handles 45 thousand flights per day over half of which are scheduled passenger flights.

The largest number of cancellations in on day that I could find was 3,000 and not all were attributable to COVID. Weather was responsible for some of them. So tens of thousands of flights did fly including mine.
