Japan has not stopped the use of coronavirus vaccines, nor has it substituted them with the parasite drug ivermectin, according to a list of COVID-19 approved medical products from Japan’s Ministry of Health. Additionally, the pandemic has not ended in the country, though new COVID-19 cases have plummeted from a summer peak. More than 1,900 new cases were still documented over the past week, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

Japan’s medicines regulator, the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), lists on its website the vaccines and therapeutics authorised for COVID-19 (here).

This list includes vaccines developed by Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech and Oxford/AstraZeneca, along with the therapeutics remdesivir, baricitinib, casilibimab and sotrovimab.

There is no mention of ivermectin.

The drug, used globally to treat parasitic worms and skin conditions, has not been officially approved for use to treat COVID-19 in Japan, the U.S. or most countries in Europe. The health ministry says the drug should be used only in clinical trials in Japan. The use of potentially unsafe imported medications, which may be counterfeit or adulterated, is not subject to compensation provided by Japan’s drug regulator should any serious health problems arise.

Sorry he was CEO until he retired last year, they must be keeping him around for his ties to the World Economic Forum. That Steve Hasker is another interesting fellow too.
