Probably not a good idea to attack another legal firearm, heck, a 14in pump is a pretty stupid choice by a lot of people too.
I've spent time in South Africa and Namibia and know a several PHs. Not all of them use doubles but the ones who do use doubles with barrels much longer than 10" and they don't carry them in a backpack.

They are sure as heck not using an American pump action.

I guess all those large bore handguns are useless too.

    Apparently not

Sub 26" OAL restriction only applies to firearms when this is reached via folding, telescoping or otherwise. Since the SS-211 has a fixed OAL and is not a handgun, it is therefore non-restricted. FRT# 194951-7

Pump shotguns of the 18" to 20" variety are generally used there for security and sometimes anti-poaching patrols.

I thought I made a reply to this comment the other day, but I may have gotten interrupted before pressing the post.
What I wanted to point out was that there is a bit of a difference purchasing a shotgun that is manufactured with a short barrel, and actually taking a hacksaw and cutting the barrel short. When you cut the barrel short by hacksawing it ( under 18") it becomes classed as a "prohibited firearm." A manufacture firearm that maintains the overall legal length with a shorten barrel, doesn't appear to have that problem.
