Magazine capacity is independent of the firearm in Canada, 10rd mags for pistols are perfectly legal in Canada, they stated that they had 10rd mags and some over capacity.

Not sure how you can tell the barrel length from this photo, there only looks to be 1 or two that are obviously prohibited in Canada.

I under stand that mag capacity is independent of the firearm, as do you, but a good portion of the media reporting on this probably don't and probably don't care if they do know and neither do most of the public that they are reporting this to. To them it's just added hype to their story.
I can't tell exactly from the photo the barrel length of all of the guns. I am basing my guess on this from 37 years experience selling firearms where I got to handle a lot of this type of firearm. I didn't say that all were short but it is obvious to me that there are a good number of them are, based on the size of the frame compared to barrel length. It appears that a number of them are compact frames which quite often have short barrels.
I'm not trying to be smart or start something here. Just made an observance. I know that you are quite knowledgeable about firearms and legalities.

I agree with you on the media, it would not really matter if they were all legal handguns for barrel length or not, they would all be called prohibited by the news organization anyway. Sorry about the magazine capacity thing, lots of people are not in the know, hell, one guy told me I could not use a lee enfield with 10rd mag because it needed to be limited to 5 rounds in his mind.

The worst part is when the media says "thousands of rounds of ammunition", like please use some context. Thousands of rounds of 50 BMG, ok, that is a lot, thousands of rounds of 22LR or 9mm is a weekend of fun, ha ha ha.
