Default A mass extinction event occurred 30M years ago

They now have proof that 30 million years ago...Long before plastic straws and CO2 emissions , climate change causes the earth to cool so fast it froze over and killed a bunch of animal species.

Nice to know that the earth has been going thru these cyclical hot and cold spells a long time before man started to burn fossil fuels and use plastics. So I don't feel so guilty anymore...a warming planet for the last 30 million years is a naturally occurring event and why we're not covered in ice. HaHa..

Climate change wiped out nearly two thirds of the mammal species in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula in a mass extinction event 30 million years ago that researchers have only just learned about now.

The Earth grew colder, ice sheets expanded, sea levels dropped, forests changed to grasslands, and carbon dioxide became scarce, the researchers said. In Asia and Europe, nearly two-thirds of the species known at that time went extinct.

According to a new study, published in the journal Communications Biology, the Earth’s climate dramatically shifted during the transition between the geological periods called the Eocene and Oligocene.

Climate change has been around for ever but global pollution is definitely a manmade problem.

Nor will any CarbonTax reduce emissions....They (the government) spin it in such a way that to some, it sounds like they are helping us but the truth is, they are just helping themselves.

That being the case: If global pollution is definitely a manmade problem, then man’s unregulated procreation and over population numbers are it’s major driving force. It’s something many believe is even commanded by God in Scripture, where it is written: Be fruitful and multiple... An interesting question is where did the cormorant population come up with the same prospective? Add to the cormorants, what once was the population of the plain's buffalo, and less we forget the passenger pigeon. .

There is evidence of water on Mars. 12,000 to 34,000 years ago the Wisconsin Glacier (named that because that was it's southern boundary) covered the Niagara area with ice that was 2-3 kms thick. Signs are everywhere - moraines, niagara escarpment and formation of lakes. If people think that suddenly, after humans appeared, that climate change suddenly stopped need their heads examined.

Statistically we are in a warming trend -

I am not saying we (humans) have no effect on climate but people need to look beyond the micro level and get a 50,000 foot view of what has been happening since earth was formed. But I guess some people find it just easier to listen to Greta and Al Gore as they fly around the world preaching global warming and green house gas reduction.

Yes, I'm still puzzle what became of the massive glaciation that covered the northern hemisphere, if climate change hasn't been occurring naturally for several thousands of years. We really have a high opinion of our human abilities to imagine that we have somehow been able to accelerate it. I have to wonder how much the current volcano eruptions and the seasonal forest fires have added to the acceleration of climate change. Such phenomena have been occurring for centuries.

    Yup..that's one hypothesis..makes sense.

Little Ice Age is said to have begun because of an increase in volcanism and reduced activity of the Sun. A large volcanic eruption in 1257 followed by three smaller eruptions through the end of the13th century have been suggested as the cause of the Little Ice Age.
