Default Remember the pandemic greenhouse emissions drop?

Update to a thread I posted last year about the effects of the World's Covid Restrictions and climate change.

Lockdown measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus caused a 7% drop in CO2 emissions over the course of 2020 -- the biggest drop ever recorded -- a study published Wednesday in the scientific journal Nature Climate Change estimates.

New data from the International Energy Agency (IEA) published on Tuesday showed global energy-related emissions were actually 2% higher in December 2020 than they were in the same month a year earlier -- and that was despite parts of the world still experiencing lockdowns.

Those drops are similar in size to the one seen last year: Le Quéré and her co-authors estimate global emissions fell by 2.6 gigatons in 2020 to 34 gigatons -- but this drop was temporary and came at a huge cost to the economy.

They key going forward is to figure out how to achieve such significant drops without hurting the economy. To do that, the authors say investment in renewable energy and a green recovery is vital.
So, in summary...the entire world shut down in 2020, limiting global emission and all it accomplishes was a 7% drop in Greenhouse gases.

By the end of 2020..when restrictions largely ended, the emissions went right back up and then some.

The good news...they now have a proven quantifier. It takes 2.6 gigatons in reduction of Co2 emissions achieved a 7% drop...and all that took was shutting down the entire economies of the world for a year.

In perspective...the Paris accord goal is: "United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global CO2 emissions must drop by about 45% from 2010 levels by 2030"

Simply put ..they have all agreed to drop Global emmisons by 45% in the next 8 yrs..

I'd usually be glib to say .."Good luck with that ".....but the latest Caron Tax increase to fuel has already increased my grocery bill by $700/yr and the gas at the pump is hitting records in this area at $1.35/lt ...nothing humorous about that.

Thank you, Greta...you poked the hornet's nest and now we're all paying the price in a futile attempt to slow down global warming...which is going to happen regardless.

Notice the recurring date 2030 in all WEF communications.
The Globalist Agenda at play. Build Back Better.
A computer chip shortage for the automotive industry? A load of cattle excrement there.

Global populations are being manipulated to bring into effect their agenda.

The WEF agenda is coming. It's more of a cult I think using political and top shareholders to set the standards moving forward. They say they have no special interest groups but then they use political opportunity. Would it be in the best interest as Freeland to push for the movement ? She is member of the WEF.

In short term their goal is to control the world. Just my opinion

They want more control using big CEO benefits and other political opportunities to push their policy.

They have a mission they are closing in on their mission. They want to implement their policies world wide .
For the greater good of their own power's.

We are almost at the record for gas prices .

    I'm seeing 140s around the most I saw gas was I thinking 2007 08 maybe at 148 a liter .

Supposed to go up even higher soon and could break the 150 a liter mark. A bad time for me to be looking at trucks lol.

Keep trying to move up the chain but like always keeps getting harder and harder lol.

"Remember the pandemic greenhouse emissions drop?" They did? That is interesting so did the number of airline flight drop. You don't suppose there might be something of a major connection between those two occurrences.

global CO2 emissions must drop by about 45% from 2010 levels by 2030"
So 45% of the 2010 emissions, which was 703, is 316 Mt CO2 eq.

So our progress by 2019...drum roll.. the chart says our emissions went up to 723 Mt CO2 eq.

Looks like Jagmeet Singh was right..Climate Barbie and the Village Idiot went the wrong way..increased Canadas emission by 20 Mt CO2 eq. No wonder she was fired as Minister of Environment and Climate Change and sent over to take care of building sidewalks.

Greta is right .."all politicians do about climate change is "Blah Blah Blah"....HaHa. ....

Should add...The government took in $2.42 BILLION in Carbon tax revenues in 2019...

Good to see our tax dollars going to good use.

    In the news !!..

    excerpts from: https://torontosun.com/opinion/colum...s-canada-loses

Canada is a laggard in the international effort to avert catastrophic climate change, according to a major new study by Climate Analytics, a global, non-profit climate science and policy institute.
It says Trudeau’s policies are consistent with 4C of warming and Canada hasn’t committed sufficient funds to mitigate the impacts of climate change on poor nations.

Many previous studies have concluded Canada will fail to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to Trudeau’s target of 40% – 45% below 2005 levels by 2030, on the way to net zero by 2050.
First, that as a big, cold, northern, sparsely populated country with significant fossil fuel resources, we will never hit Trudeau’s climate targets, or for that matter any target set by any Canadian government, Liberal or Conservative, as has now been the case for more than three decades.

Second, the only countries likely to succeed in meeting their climate targets will not be major industrialized nations but small countries in warmer climates with the help of foreign aid.

Third, despite Trudeau imposing a $40 per tonne carbon tax/price on Canadians this year, rising to $170 per tonne by 2030, preparing a second carbon tax called the clean fuel standard and committing almost $115 billion to climate action, clean growth and a green recovery since 2015, Canada will always be considered a climate laggard.

Fourth, carbon taxes/prices are becoming increasingly divorced from the claim their purpose is to combat climate change and correctly understood as a sin tax for using fossil fuels, raising the cost of almost all goods and services because almost all goods and services are created, grown, manufactured, or delivered using fossil fuel energy.
