I am quite proud to call myself Canadian and I would be just as proud to call my self American. If anyone is offended by that they can go rub salt.

Opinions about America vary in Canada. I would rather be a Canadian and to explain why might be regarded as disrespectful in a thread meant to recognize the anniversary of 9/11.

No offense intended - just wondering why one would like to live in either Canada or the U.S. - I lived in Canada for a short time back in the early 60s - Canada is a beautiful country especially if you like fishing and hunting - lots of space in the northern and western part of Ontario - it has gotten too liberal for me and the control the government has over people isn't something I like - I think individuals have more freedom here in the states - sure if you are born in a country there is a given respect you have for it - that's natural - I was just wondering if a guy had a choice to live in either country why would he choice one over the other - that's all - no big deal

To tell you the truth Joe...the only 'real ' difference for me would be the weather. As I get older the thoughts of the impending winter ahead has got me wishing I lived down south in a more civilized climate. As else aside, there really is no difference in a mans day to day life no matter where they live.. the shows on TV are all the same.

The one thing about 9/11 is that it was the first time that Americans experienced an attack on its home soil - Americans are not use to this type of thing happening - although people all over the world have experienced far worst bombings both conventional and nuclear - taken in the contents of causalities a lot more Americans died in the wars she was involved in - just an example Vietnam 47,434 died - Korea 33,686 - yes it was a tragedy but in respect to other occasions it was far from the worst

I was in grade 11 electrical class. It came over the PA what had happened. I didnt understand then what the WTC was, but I sure as hell knew what the Pentagon was I can remember saying "someone just declared war on the US".

I can distinctly remember my math teacher saying "This isnt important, pay attention to algebra" while the rest of my teachers understandably didnt even bother trying to teach anything and instead let us follow along through the internet and radio.

I’m proud to be Canadian, have American family and I’d be proud to live there too Joe.

I’m also proud that Canada was one of the few NATO countries that actually helped do the fighting in Afghanistan ….some of the closest allies didn’t

Your question almost answers itself. I'd rather be Canadian for all the same reasons you'd rather be American.
