Apple Pie
I'm getting a lot of apples right now so naturally apple pie is on the menu - being a widower (over 20 years) if I want home made apple pie I got to make it myself - over the years I've learn how to make the perfect apple pie crust - and make it very quickly - I know there aren't many guys on this forum who are interested but there might be someone so I'm going to tell you how to make the perfect apple pie crust - here's how to make the dough - two cups flour, some salt, 1/2 cup of olive oil, and 1/4 cup of milk - make the dough so that it is soft enough to roll out - cut dough in half - wet the counter top and put some wax paper on it - the wax paper will stick to the counter top - lay the dough on the wax paper then put another sheet of wax paper on top of the dough - roll out the dough into a circle large enough to cover bottom of pie plate - when done take off the top piece of wax paper and flip the other onto the pie plate - carefully remove the was paper from the dough in the pie plate - do the same for the top piece of dough - fill the pie with apples and the spices that you want - there are many recipes on the internet - the finished pie will have a very flaky pie crust which is the sign of a good pie -
Because I am alone I had to learn how to cook - now I'm pretty good at it - make my own bread all the time -

I do like a good apple pie, but prefer the fall apples as they are usually more tart and crisp. My go-to is an apple crisp as I do love a good mix of oatmeal and brown sugar with a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon. Now I think I might be pulling some rhubarb out of the freezer this weekend if I can find some half decent strawberries around town.

Thanks Joe...that's the first I've heard of using the parchment paper...and will try it....I too am the cook of the house, whether it's breakfast, lunch , dinner or dessert.....its always worked well for me as I like to use every single dish in the kitchen, and my wife cleans......I've watched her try and boil water for KD, and have almost witnessed the only person in the world to burn water
This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......
