Toyota Warns (Again) About Electrifying All Autos
Perhaps someone in the government should listen to what the world's biggest and most successful auto maker has to say about going all in on electric vehicles. This entire "go electric" mantra that keeps getting pushed upon us reminds me of the solar/wind energy fiasco that the provincial government foisted upon us, without any real forethought about feasibility. I know it would never fly, but instead of governments subsidizing electric car purchases, they should be placing additional taxes on new electric car sales to help pay for the upgraded infrastructure required to power them.
Toyota understands both the car market and the infrastructure that supports it perhaps better than any other manufacturer on the planet. It hasn’t grown its footprint through acquisitions, as Volkswagen has, and it hasn’t undergone bankruptcy and bailout as GM has. Toyota has grown by building reliable cars for decades.

Yup, it's gonna be challenging, and costs will go up.
All hands on deck, we are dealing with the next industrial revolution.
