Well that was the idea 50 years ago and it worked well but that was a different time and the voters today think very differently.
Debt seems to mean very little today and many folks are up to their neck's in mortgage debt and car loans, lines of credit.
Governments talking about debt is no longer sexy, because most of the population does not give a chit.
As for working hard, I listened to a series of employers who cannot get people who want to work, some of them in construction who are prepared to train people on the job, find them late into work and half the times high on marijuana or worse.
I would be interested to hear which country in the WORLD presently reflects what you would like to see?
What you just described, you perpetuate by voting for the corruption!

Well Rick unfortunately for some people we can't fix stupid. Unfortunately as of late we seem to have more than our fair share in this country and the same can be said for the US.

Its just as well that I am ON RECORD here stating that I would vote for Pierre Poilievre tomorrow if I could.
But your right about not being able to fix stupid, the Conservatives have a winning guy here and they are to stupid to see that.
As for your comments on the USA, Pierre is smart enough to stick handle that and not sink our relationship with them.
He would also be seen in a very positive light by the Republicans, Canada win's both ways.

I vote for the long term prosperity of our country, which means work hard, pay taxes, reap the benefits.
It is the best to vote that way, what the Liberal's leave out is who is paying for it.... they either lie or hide it. Like this 2015 Liberal "truth" (a $100B lie) they say what will get them votes. Just look at the lies and fear mongering over firearms, cuts etc. lies, more lies and outrageous lies and just like the supporter of Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Germany's National Socialist and on to today history continues, just look Xi Jinping, Ismail Haniyeh and Abubakar Shekau have their supporters who will follow to their deaths and Justlied has those that worship at his cult of personality too, he is beyond questioning to them. All to the detriment of Canada's future, the ones that will pay the dinner and lunch bills. The attack ads have already started from UNIFOR so we can be guaranteed an election based on rhetoric and lies from them and the lefts parties.

Don't disagree about employers shortfall finding employees to work. Cerb which is now called something else, and will become UBI, is a huge factor.
The attitude of many youth, not all is why, "work when I can sit at home for two grand a month"?
If that's the future of Canada, it's not looking bright

Why would I want to choose another country. I couldn't care less what others do ...
That's like pointing at the next degenerate family down the street, and using them as an example.
But if you were to probe me ... I'd say Germany has some good work ethic.
Why they high here? Because Turdeau made weed legal. Why they don't want to work here? Because Turdeau given them free money.
There's no incentive. In fact, the Liberals strategy has hard working penalized with excess taxes ... so not only do the Libs incentivize NOT WORKING,
they crack a whip on your back when you do try and work hard. It's complete nonsense, and even you know that!
