    Default Heart Burn

Years ago I started getting heart burn a lot - about a half hour after eating - had some tests done and it showed that I had what they call reflux disease - acid from the stomach would get into the lower part of my esophaguses - was given a prescription called Nexium for a month - it helped for a while but then as time went by I started getting heart burn again - would take Tumps but ended up taking some after each time I ate - then I started taking an over the counter Nexium for about 2 or 3 days then I was ok for a week or more - the over the counter Nexium was a smaller dose. than the prescription dose that I was originally given - I usually have a large glass of grape juice each morning and about 6 weeks ago I started putting a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar into the juice - the vinegar was organic and still had the mother in it - to my surprise I haven't had any heart burn for about 4 weeks now - I know that they tell you not to drink acid juices like orange juice or tomato juice when you have this reflux disease but somehow the vinegar is helping with this problem - thought I'd pass this on in case you get heart burn a lot - I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope it keeps working

I've read about using vinegar for heartburn or acid reflux since I've had it as long as I can remember, I'm not a fan of taking medication regularly unless absolutely necessary so I did try a few different remedies. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, but the cause has a lot to do with your diet (so they say) and mine is not great for preventing heartburn that's for sure.

It's great that it's working for you. Hopefully that will be the end of it.

Unpasturized apple cider vinegar worked for me too. Greasy foods along with processed garbage are murder for me.

Try a 1/4 teaspoon of baking Soda in a half cup of water. That should help neutralize the acid.

    Hopefully it works for you.
In my case I was basically puking daily.
After a week of testing I was diagnosed with G.E.R.D. with advance Hiatal Hernia.
I had no valve left in my esophagus. It was a straight pipe and why I couldn't hold nothing down.
Specialist did a valve reconstruction and I've been like a new man ever since.
Not a fun disease and testing sure sucked. Recovery was hell, I think I ate Pablum for a couple of months.
Other serious problems can develop if you don't take care of this. See a doctor/specialist if it persists.
    Good Luck

Ouch, that sounds real nasty. I was also diagnosed with GERD after the endoscopy. By far the biggest belch I ever had after they removed the camera and all the air escaped that was used to inflate the stomach. He prescribed me Omeprazole. So I asked how long it would take to clear up and he said never. OK So as long as I take one a day I can still eat anything I want, I got off pretty easy compared to you. Good to see surgery worked for you. Cheers

Thanks, I was on Omeprazole for 12 to 15 years prior to the operation.
The maximum pills per day I could take weren't working for me at the end, so chop...chop.

I find Apple Cider vinegar cures many ills, acid indigestion, sore throat, skin irritations, good for soaking your feet in it too ! I have a Gall Bladder that acts once in awhile and found pickled beets is the best thing for that, again because of the vinegar content. Needless to say adjusting our eating habits is an important first step.
Good Luck & Good Hunting !
