Hot Weather Fan
It got into the 90s the other day so I got out an old metal box fan that I usually put into an upstairs window every summer - I aim the fan outside and that draws air in the other opened windows - I bought this fan back in 1960 - used it every summer since then - that is 60 years and it is still running good - it is a General Electric fan - can you imagine something built today lasting that long - especially if it is made in China - my buddy had a 1957 Pontiac hard top convertible back then - cream colored top and red bottom - a real neat looking machine - I remember that car was built like a tank - when you opened and closed the doors you could tell it was really built strong - he passed away about 5 years ago but I still remember him and that car -

as my dad says, they use to make things that lasted until they found out they can make products to break for more profit.

A few of the guys here will probably remember those magical mystical Ford years from '68 to '72 when their 302 motors got almost 65,000 miles before dying, bodies that rotted completely out in one year and no warranty to cover them. Nowadays you don't touch an engine, or plugs, or brakes for tens of thousands of miles and their bodies last decades. Of course, that 50 dollar brake job is now a grand.
