If firearms are stolen a lot they would only represent 3% of violent crimes. That's if they are all used in crime. Not the case.
Most are gang bangers dealing with each others carrying hand guns purchased in the US.

Tools, ATV's, generators, jewelry, guns.....stolen in B&E's are mostly resold to ordinary citizens on the black market.
Most likely there are shady operators at gun shows. Let the buyer beware.
They end up in the hands of sportsmen who unknowingly purchase them.

Just also to add for you almost every illegal grow operation or drug raid result's in the seizure of firearm's from seasoned criminal's, where did they get their guns from?

Yes so why are legal gun owners taking the hit?

Why do they feel the need to disarm the law abiding citizens when people like that have whatever they want ? Do you think putting more restrictions on law abiding citizens will stop the criminals from getting them? It's a simple answer.

You may be partly correct regarding "homes", but up this way, it's a good mix of homes and/or cottages/camps. Not sure what the scum are targeting but invariably firearms are reported stolen, as well as the usual, tools, etc.
Familiarity of the victims in the community may well be a factor when these punks target a location? If so n so down the road knows you are a hunter, they are pretty well assured there will be firearms onsite? It may not be the so n so down the road who does the deed, but they pass that info to their druggy buddies.

I would guess up my way you got a 30% chance of scoring a firearm in a break in to a home, probably less chance in a cabin as most hunters do not store guns in cabins out of the way. For a regular home, check the driveway for home being empty ,no footprints for a few days, other indicators hunting decals on parked trucks, ATV's on driveways in past with gun carriers.

I could reverse this whole thing on you and ask you why some rural homes are targeted. Many are targeted when empty because there are GUNS in the home to be stolen. So the very item that you want to protect you is the reason the home is targeted in the first place. Now you will not get those guns back as the long gun registry is gone.

That's a ridiculous non-argument that does not actually contend with any of the valid points I've listed.
