    Default Covid App: dismal failure...

Wonder how much that debacle cost us..

96% of Canadians who test positive for coronavirus aren’t using COVID Alert app properly

The app has been downloaded roughly 6.3 million times, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). This means about 79 per cent of Canada’s roughly 30 million smartphone users haven’t downloaded it.

The Canadian government said the COVID Alert app was the next great hope in the struggle against the novel coronavirus.

But new statistics suggest so few people are using the app correctly that it has almost no effect on slowing or limiting the spread of COVID-19.

The public health data shows just 3.8 per cent of roughly 535,000 Canadians who tested positive for COVID-19 since the app went live have actually used it to warn others about possible exposure to the virus.

That means 96.2 per cent of people who could have used the app to warn close contacts either don’t have the app, failed to use it, or couldn’t use it properly.

Their own stupidity and failure. Not that I ever downloaded the app voluntarily. It was forced on everyone by automatic operating system upgrades to everyone. Check your phone! It has to be manually enabled but no one does. So, in essence right from the start they are lying about the stat.

Furthermore, it only is supposed to work if you spend more than 15 minutes in close proximity with someone who tested positive.
Duhhh! These people are in a 14 day quarantine already and out of circulation. Idiot system developed by morons.

And a progressive naivety that assumes everyone wants to hold hands around a campfire and sing Kumbayah versus living in the real world.

What does that have to do with a Covid app.? That the government was relying on the public, to have it's own best interest at heart, might be naïve? No one can force anyone to install, or use an app on their phone. Guess giving the general public, credit for having common sense, is just wrong. Must be that progressive governments fault. Would it not be the permanent bureaucrats, who run such programs?

    Omg.

Maybe you should read and think about what you just said? You know, pause and think before leaping?

Because thinking 60%-80% of the population would use it.....Isn’t the definition of naïveté? For the love of god....

    Edit
and with respect to beuracrats. There’s only a “million” articles, soundbytes of JT pimping it.

To hell with the damn covid app I wouldn't download any app that justlied and his merry band of goofs recommend. Just another way of putting a electronic bracelet on people to tract their movements and interactions. I WANT Less government bs in my life instead of more of it. I'm more than capable of looking after my well being and the ones around me with out the help of some covid app that truedope recommends. Just like the rest of his so called great ideas and recommendations he can stick them were the sun doesn't shine.

    Lol yep.
But I’m not sure what Gilroy is hoping to prove with that.

That two politicians who both need Liberal supporters in the GTA, are licking each other’s backsides with praise during these times?

    /shocker

One thread he calls Harper a fool for calling a spade a spade with JT. This thread he’s using Ford ( who needs support of red Toronto if he wants to keep his job) brown nosing as proof JT is wonderbar

Yup it was an expensive flop...but not by Liberal standards....and without a budget, it's not going to raise condemnation.

Well, we learned from Blacklock’s Reporter Wednesday that the COVID Alert was a flop. A colossal $16.5-million flop.

The Public Health Agency spent $480,000 developing the app as a free service to consumers and budgeted $16 million to promote it.

Only 19% of mobile users in Canada downloaded it.

Worse, barely 2% of Canadians infected by the coronavirus let the tracing app know — even though it was all anonymous — that they had contracted the virus so that I would know if one of them had happened to be in too close a proximity.
