Depends on you definition of out of control.
With 381K deaths in a population of 328 Million is = .09% of the population.
Less than 1% death rate is hardly 'out of control
In regards to cases (positive): 23 million in a population of 382 million is = 7%
Again with only 7% of the population is sick, that is hardly 'out of control'

Well, I’m trying NOT to fall under the influence of the alarmists, but I still think 1.5 million cases over a week and the exponential growth we’ve seen can be classed as “out of control” because for the last 9-10 months the Americans, like us and most of the rest of the world, have been UNABLE to bring it UNDER control, despite spending hundreds of billions and destroying economies. I just wonder where we go from here.

A positive test is not a case. Start looking at the terminology they use "positive test = case" rather than the traditional "Case = illness requiring treatment" . Then look at the science behind the testing methods (PCR), the coding of COVID deaths, lack of excess deaths when compared to other years.
Start dealing with and examining those things and the COVID problem is greatly diminished.

Some places in the US. I think California? Have now ordered EMS to triage people. Whether car accident, heart attack, etc.If the paramedic thinks they have little chance of survival. They leave them.
Say what you will about over blown stats, some spinning, shell shocked people bombarded daily. Etc
It’s still serious.
The question should be. Where’s the perspective, the “balance”.
Re media.
I imagine ( don’t know), that South America, while they obviously have media. It’s nothing like North America’s.
South America ( if we choose to credit some of it), has some of the worst numbers.

We've had 10 months to start building hospitals yet havent dont a thing - why not?
News show us pictures of reefer trucks we may need if things continue - yet the biggest morgue in SW Ontario is in London and only holds 28 bodies? why the fear mongering when its the GOVERNMENT fault for not having enough morgues (and not enough hospital capacity) Lets face it we have a hospital crisis BEFORE COVID!!!
I dont like how the government is starting to shift the blame onto US THE PEOPLE - the responsibility lies on theire shoulders for not providing proper medical infrastructure YEARS AGO let alone now to handle this, and do allow flights and travel with a blatant disregard to our health...yet now I AM THE PROBLEM I GUESS.... we are going down a slipperly slope and I agree jake the media puppets are not helping one bit

Where would you propose we get the staff to run them if we built them?

Not difficult to see who benefits the most from these lockdowns. We still have to eat and support ourselves. The Global Elites are eliminating any kind of competition in regards to your dollars. Surgical method of controlling the distribution chain. People need to look beyond the hysteria. It is only a distraction while the real agenda is carried out. People buy into it under the battle cry "Save the planet" but in reality it only serves the agenda of the few Elite. History has a tendency of repeating itself.
"The COVID Response Alliance for Social
Entrepreneurs is collaborating with 60 leading

protect the most vulnerable in this crisis and
shape the transition to a new normal in its

and existing on-the-ground infrastructure can

And they could have trained people to be COVID only nurses. Treating COVID patients in a covid only hospital.

Ontario used to spend a billion dollars a month in interest. That’s likely going to double at a minimum now. Picture what could be built with an additional 12-15 BILLION dollars a year.
Everybody wants to borrow to get by and avoid increasing taxes, while ensuring the millions of voters on the government tit stay satisfied. This was bound to happen sooner or later,
apologies for my above tangent, but it’s all related and it will all be part of our downward slide
