    Default Covid lock down fails: Man on death row has tested positive

    Here's a head scratcher: Prison should be considered the tightest lockdown one can be in, yet prisoners are getting the virus.

    One fella who is on death row, due to be executed 15th of Jan ...has tested positive. How can that happen ??

    Higgs is convicted of ordering the 1996 murders of three women in Maryland. His execution is scheduled for January 15. A jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland found him guilty of several federal offences and unanimously recommended the death penalty in 2000.
    His lawyer:
    We have asked the government to withdraw the execution date and we will ask the courts to intervene if they do not," Nolan said.
    With these kind of stats...questions will have to be asked if the staff followed any kind of mask/social distance preventative measures. In that kind of crowded environment once it's gets in the door...

    The bureau said 222 inmates have tested positive at that prison.

    Nationwide, 6,043 federal inmates and 1,693 staffers have tested positive for the virus.

    Canada is also seeing the virus in the prison population;

    KINGSTON -- Eighty inmates at the Joyceville Institution have tested positive for COVID-19, while eight cases at two other institutions are believed to be linked to the prison near Kingston.

    In a statement to CTV News, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) says all employees and inmates will receive medical masks and face shields at the medium-security institution.

    "We are monitoring the situation closely and diligently, and we continue to apply our infection prevention and control measures," said Correctional Service Canada.
    Interesting that people are restricted from visiting loved ones in Nursing homes but allowed to visit prisoners.

    Word of the 80 cases of COVID-19 at the Joyceville Institution came on the same day Correctional Service of Canada announced all in person visits at all Ontario institutions and community correctional centres are temporarily suspended.

    "This decision will limit comings and goings from its facilities. It follows extensive consultation with public health officials and will be reassessed on an ongoing basis," said CSC in a media release, adding inmates can connect with their family and support networks via video visitation or telephone.

    I have a simple solution for the guy on death row with covid...

    Do they really save him first, then execute him on Jan 15?

    I say give them the vaccine - I saw this two stage vaccine that looks promising. It does not matter what one they get first first so it is very easy to administer.

    Hey Mike........I know it was not intentional but the Final Solution reference is not where I intended that to go.
