Absolutely not needed,i agree with You.I was planning today to go canoeing-and the Guelph lake will be closed til 10 am........Thanx for the heads up.
At the other hand, with the summer coming, and with people on the edge with this COVID,they could consider opening more areas of the Park(Parks).
The Park is always full in the season, and this time only maybe 20% of the Park is open....?!This fact may contribute(without need-but quite likely)

The problem is the disrespect people are showing to each other and to the conservation areas. Not social distancing properly puts pressure on the GRCA staff. Leaving a mess everywhere and going into non open areas is unacceptable. As they stated, if things don’t improve they will be forced to shut things down again. The screen shot below if from the GRCA Facebook page.

Just read the rules for the parks.
Charging standard entrance fee's but not even putting out garbage containers.

They need to fine the idiots who litter. You brought it in, then bring it out. Not a difficult or controversial concept.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Exactly. Just because there are no garbage cans doesn’t mean you can just drop your litter all over the place.

As predicted GRCA has temporarily closed parks because some people are jackasses.

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) has temporarily closed four parks in Wellington County because people are not following rules.
Officials announced on June 9 that the Belwood Lake, Elora Gorge, Guelph Lake and Rockwood conservation areas will be closed until June 15.
