OK, it was always my understanding that the whole colony died off in the fall except the queen, who overwinters then starts a new nest in the spring.
Now, in the past three days Ive captured about 30 bald faced hornets in a trap on my deck. It was snowing two weeks ago. Surely they dont have a colony that big already? Where are these coming from? All they all queens? What the heck is going on here?
