    Hello
I thought they were suppose to screen anyone boarding an international flight/plane before coming into Canada.... Not so sure this is happening because if it was/is, how does someone land in Canada on Saturday and die of COVID-19 the next day.... I mean they arrive on Saturday March 21st then goes to the hospital with symptoms, then dies the next day, Sunday March 22nd from COVID-19 .....
Safe guards don't seem to be working all that great...Something went/is wrong.

obvious answer is yes! More than I could have imagined! Canada has about 1,500 CONFIRMED cases and 20 deaths so far, the drop of the stock market ... oh man if I knew then I would have sold everything.... big losses, then throw in the new terms, people going into isolation, the utter incompetence of our federal gov't and disregard for public safety and more lies, the Sportsman show and events cancelled, toilet paper hoarders emerged, just how contagious this virus really is was unknown ...... two months and things have changed!! .... and there are 3" of fresh snow.... that may not have changed much I guess in two months... 2 more months.... more changes... and hopefully no more snow then!
Actually we went over 2,000 today and 3 new deaths.... 565 new cases....

I don't think I've done as much reading over the past week as I have ever done. Came across an article today regarding testing " Deadly virus outbreaks are controlled when people know their status. Knowledge impacts behavior." So stop lying, tell it like it is, and do what they are asking everyone to do...

Canadians already face deadly coronaviruses — routinely — with little anxiety or fear. The flu, short for influenza, causes about 12,200 hospitalizations and 3,500 deaths in Canada each year, according to the Canadian government. Influenza and pneumonia are ranked among the top 10 leading causes of death in Canada. Worldwide, seasonal flu causes an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 deaths annually.

That first article you post here is from January 28. Before you lean on that any further, call the author and see if they feel the same way.

The second link is good, I suppose, if you want to be informed about influenza. Which is good, I guess. But you trailed off saying how many estimated deaths occur worldwide, citing 250000 to 500000 deaths annually. This is a shocking number, by itself, which was actually increased to 290000-650000 in 2017.

Lets look at just the States for their numbers.

These are the CDC stats for this current influenza season.

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden...-estimates.htm

If you take the lowest possible number of infections at 38million, and the highest amount of fatalities at 59000, you get a fatality rate of 0.16%

Here is the link with an overview from 2010-present.

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html

The first number represents cases, the second number represents deaths and finally the percentage of fatality.

    2010-11: 21Million/37000= 0.18%fatality
    11-12: 9.3Million/12000= 0.13
    12-13: 34Million/43000= 0.13
    13-14: 30Million/38000= 0.13
    14-15: 30Million/51000= 0.17
    15-16: 24Million/23000= 0.1
    16-17: 29Million/38000= 0.13
    17-18: 45Million/61000= 0.14

The data is very limited, obviously, for the Covid-19 virus. But we can again look at the numbers Stateside so that its a level playing field.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

At this moment, there are 42443 cases of Covid-19 and 517 deaths for a fatality rate of 1.22%.

Even if you skew the numbers to be as favourable as they could possibly be for this flu vs Covid argument... Take the LEAST amount of infections over the 10yr period (9.3Million) and apply the HIGHEST amount of casualties (61000), you would still end up with a fatality rate of 0.66%. Again, this last equation is completely made up and does not apply.

Sorry for the rant, I took my layoff today and one of the things I heard most often on site was that "its just a flu...kills more people every year..."

Screening is no guarantee ... not even close. People have been walking around for 5 days with NO symptoms ... at all ... so they are busy spreading it, and it's impossible to detect physically, oh ... and the hospitals won't test them either, because unless you are pretty much showing full fledged symptoms they will not test, because of the backlog.

Italy has finally peaked yesterday was the second day with dropping numbers. Yesterday second day dropping in numbers still resulted in like 770 deaths. Today they are just under 700 dead. Let's hope these numbers keep dropping they have been in lock down for weeks. They also have 5000 plus new cases

Today 10 more canadians have died from covid 19

By Thursday the USA will have more confirmed cases than China.

Likely and I think I read something about their testing.

I wish I could “share” one FB friends charts. He’s a numbers geek. I won’t bore with details of his algorithms. Will just say the exponential trend line for the US looks scary. Italy is now on a linear trend.

NY is just insane. Aside from health issues in the US that might skew numbers. I can’t help but wonder how many people won’t seek treatment
