Congrats nice one. You should go out now with the crowds gone and the colder temperatures you might get in to some nice fall Steel.

Nice one. Yeah roe isn't that effective. I do some salmon fishing for fun, but enjoy the more technical fishing when the steelhead come up river. As you know, Salmon aren't feeding in the rivers, they just strike out of anger/temper, so that's why the lure probably worked better. I've used flies with some success.

I have been out for some steel , but I don't think its peak run at the movement at the credit from my observations.

Not the greatest Salmon run ether this year but I did witness a fellow fishing a pool with me land a nice Brown last week.

I find any lure that has a lot of movement triggers that aggression that fisherman wait for. The nice thing about it is that a hit is a hit no questions asked. I like fishing for salmon because they are just a crazy fish to catch and observe. But like yourself I do enjoy the more technical fishing of steel heading .
