    Listening to Oakley on AM640 on the way home yesterday afternoon, he was right on the money when he said “there’s really not much more we can say on this topic”

    It’s all been said, and the next one will just be another news story, and the next....

    The gun culture is about to change in the states--just as soon as the current generation is old enough to vote. Thats something the NRA seems reluctant to acknowledge.

    What I don’t understand is the guns existed when we were younger but no one would think of killing like this. What he changed? Movies ? Video games? Cause it’s not the access to guns. I used to bring a gun in the trunk of my car all the time to go hunting ducks and geese after school?

    I'll tell you what changed - society has - I have lived through it and have seen what happened - at one time society was God fearing and had morals - God was kicked out of schools and more and more people began to live as through there is not God - there is no right or wrong anymore - do what you want to do - in the public schools the kids are taught that they are like animals just a accident of nature and when they die it is over - you don't need to account for what you did in this life - I am actually surprised that more things like this don't happen - look at abortion - millions of babies are killed in these clinics and people think it is ok - life is cheap and so when some person kills others - so what - things that are accepted today wouldn't be tolerated years ago - look at the violence and sex perversion on TV and the movies - marriage was once sacred now 50 % of them end up in divorce because of selfishness with the result millions of kids are raised without the traditional family for support and proper up bringing - society is decaying right in front of your eyes and things will only get worse - without God this is no absolutes and the result of quite evident -

    Media coverage is what happened, this type of thing happened before but it was not as in your face as it is now.

    1984 and 1966 are number 7 and 8 for ranking in mass killings, 1991 is #6, 1982,1983 and 1949 tied for 15th with 13 killed in those shootings.

    They have been going on for a long time, just brought to your attention faster now.

    It may have gone on before, but not at the frequency it has been for the last few years. It's in your face because it happens more often. From your link;

    Studies indicate that the rate at which public mass shootings occur has tripled since 2011. Between 1982 and 2011, a mass shooting occurred roughly once every 200 days. However, between 2011 and 2014 that rate has accelerated greatly with at least one mass shooting occurring every 64 days in the United States.

    Many may not believe this but growing up in Quebec City we used to hunt snow geese pretty seriously. One day the vice principal ( went to school with my dad ) caught us putting shotguns in our lockers because we were going after school. Well, we were told we had to store them in the closet in his office. Not because it was a safety concern but because he didn't want us cutting class early. The world has changed and not for the better.

    I see where Wilkes-Barre Pa (where I was born and raised) made the list of mass shootings - I remember when that happened -
