    Default A Real Assortment Today.

At our bird feeders, it is surprising to see this assortment of birds, glad I filled the feeders to the brim yesterday.
We have, Chicadees, Gold Finches, House Finches, Pine Siskins, Common Red Polls, Red Bellied Wood Peckers, Downey Woodpeckers,Grackles, Red Winged Blackbirds, Cardinals, Blue Jays,Juncos,Morning Doves, ?? varieties of Sparrows, and one Chipmunk.
A real assortment of colours , and they all seem to get along.
I have been sitting by the widow reading and watching this variety today, and what I find amazing is that despite this rotten weather they are here feeding heavily , this has been going on since well before noon hour.

That’s one of the reasons I have feeders; during terrible weather there is always something nice to look at or listen to as well. Our feeders have been busy as well.

Yes, we are out in the country,as for the Gold Finches, they have been around all winter, not as many as we have now, at times there must be around 80 of them here and now they are very noticeable as they are changing from winter to summer plumage.

We feed the same feed all year round, [black oil sunflower seed ] the birds are always here they seem to like it, I don't get any complaints.
That is a great tip on the dog hair.

Last couple of days, I have been placing feed on the ground rather than in the feeder. With the wind blowing as bad as it was, birds weren't landing on the feeder but were fighting for the food on the ground.

We only feed black oil seeds and find that when the weather gets bad we get the most birds. Last week we went thru about 3 quarts of feed each day in one feeder.
