The 50/50 split is pretty universal in the western world and has been for a while. I have no doubt the "L'll Potatoe's" cabinet is split the same regardless of what they say publicly to stay in good liberal standing. There is nothing to be gained bringing up that file which is why Harper never did nor will Scheer. Trudough brings it up because he truly feels he has the power to change the world in his image. Didn't work so well in India, China or the USA. Not that these countries have much power/influence.....

That took 30 seconds to find and is from 2016. It and numerous other independent polls are widely available that confirm your statement as bunk and mine as fact. So in the big picture piss off half and make the other half happy. Net result is irrelevant like I said.
This poll is meaningless unless aligned with how wards are lined up. Do you really think that Rural Ontario would vote 49/51 on abortion and Toronto core would also vote 49/51?
Remember, rural Ontario does not mean much when it comes to an election, you are wooing Toronto. No matter what the rest of the province votes Toronto holds the keys to the castle and this has always been the case.

Toronto also has a growing ethnic population with voters who's religions often aren't exactly "progressive". The liberals let them in to increase the votes but at some point once they are settled their values will be reflected in the votes.
Also, Ford Nation is mostly Toronto based. This will likely give the PC's some seats they never had. Add in the disgust with Wynne that will push people to the NDP and that vote splitting will only help the PC's. I don't think she can buy herself out this time. Livingston is in court today for sentencing on the email scandals. He is now the poster boy for the liberals. Ford is a street fighter. Expect him to bring up Ben Levin the convicted pedophile who was a senior adviser and drafted the new sex Ed curriculum for Wynne.

Has too much time on their hands
Seeing that thread is still going on I'm wondering, is there any Conservative that think that talking about abortion before an election is a good idea?
I'm no political expert but to me it's simply "Not" a smart idea. It has no positive action. I'm pretty certain that if someone is against it , he votes Conservative anyway....
As Fox mentioned earlier, the best way to win this election is to shut up. Wynne has done enough on her own for the Conservative to win it. Picking Ford was already a risky move so why add more to the plate.... IMO, politics now a day is all about strategy, forget about dignity, fairness and integrity until you win it. If you gonna win you got to play the game and play it smart.

That was an old news article from March 7, prior to the leadership vote. He also said he would not bring the issue up. There will be many more similar attacks from the Liebrals before June. They are grasping at straws in an attempt to keep their jobs......

I realized that but you would think that a leader, or someone that would like to be one, would see way passed 30 days. The guy should be able to plan 6 month to two years in advance..... Any conservative, leader or not, that would bring a subject like that to the public is hurting the party. What is done is done but gosh this guys should think twice before opening their bucket for the good of the entire party.

Doug's down to earth personality, fighting for the average citizen to bring common sense back to Ontario is connecting with voters all across Ontario!
Doug Ford makes his pitch to northern Ontario, where PC's have won just 1 seat in 30 years.

Bombardier management need to 'get their act together,' Doug Ford says during visit to Thunder Bay, Ont.

It is sooooo refreshing to hear someone speak the language of common sense.
“You see what’s happening south of the border,” Ford told host CTV’s Your Morning in March. “They have trillions of dollars coming in, the lowest unemployment we’ve seen in 20 years, and they have manufacturing jobs flowing back into the country. Up in Ontario, you have more red tape, more rules, more regulations … the carbon tax ... the highest hydro rates … some of the highest property taxes, and then you’re supposed to compete?”
How Doug Ford could win the Ontario election
