To still have people who believe the earth is flat, even though we have known that it is not for 1000s of years. These are just stupid comments by people too ignorant to pickup a book. I come from a Religious family but I have my issues with organized religion. I really could care less what people believe but do not push it on me and do not shape my life around your religion. I am speaking to the Christians on this one, I have never once had a Jew or a Muslim come to my door with literature and tell me what to believe, but I have had many a conversation with Jews and Muslims about what it is to be alive and why we are here. I whole heartily believe that we live on forever, not as a being in the clouds with a god but rather in the hearts and minds of those who we made an impact in our lives. I know my grandpa will live on for my "forever" when I pickup a chainsaw, when I go out to my animals, when I see WWE come on TV, all those things that we did together, all those things that remind me of him, that is his heaven, that is his soul.
Dr Hawking will live on for thousands of years, his ideas, his beliefs, his ability to put down ideas into terms that people other than Physicists could understand (A Brief History of Time) has made adults think just a little more and children want to learn just a little more.
“We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.” - Stephen Hawking

That's right, back at the ranch, take your pill and go back to bed !
Jay - sorry to disappoint you but I don't take any pills and I'll wager that when your my age you won't be able to do half the things I do - and doing your life do half of the things I did - just to let you know what I do - each year I raise a very large garden from which I just about feed myself - I raise chickens - take care of a large orchard - go deer hunting with a crossbow and a rifle - go fishing up into northern Canada - go on camping trips with my camper - take care of a 4 bedroom two story house - take care of my special needs daughter - fix everything that needs fixing - play basketball with my grandsons - cut trees down and cut up 6 cords of firewood each year - just got done building a 28 ft by 32 ft barn - so you see I'm quite busy - I could tell you all the things I did during my lifetime but I won't bother - ever year that I go for my annual checkup the doctor tells me that he is surprised because I look like I am 10 to 20 years younger than I really am - if your a good boy and behave yourself someday I will let you in on the secret

In the academic world they discuss flat earth type theories as a way to prevent mistakes. You look for example at the evidence that proves the Earth is flat, and then you look for the errors in the observations that can be made. This kind of academic exercise is done all the time.
Whatever man. It's clear who was in the wrong in our little divergence from the the main post. I can't help it if you read things into my post which were never there.

Been there, done all that , except my barn is smaller and not a two story house, and am still doing these things, but a little slower as I now need my other knee replaced, and I am just a few years younger than you .
