Unfortunately it has been my experience on numerous occasions that mechanics have tried to "up-sell" unnecessary work when my daughter has taken her vehicle in for regular maintenance such as an oil change. Fortunately she is wise to the world and runs it by dad first who takes care of it. Mind boggling to what they have recommended such as transmission overhaul, etc.

I always cringe when I get my seasonal tire change sitting in the lounge and the service advisor with a somber look approaches a lady and goes through their recommended list of items to be addressed. All around $1200 brake jobs seem to be their favorite.

Last month they tried to up sell me on rust proofing. When I told them it was a "fleet" vehicle and would not be approved they said "Oh, never mind"...lol

You had me worried there for a minute Joe.
I got taken once when driving home from Florida and stopped in Georgia for gas. "They" said my tires weren't safe enough to get to Ontario . Yes I bought new tires; I'm sure they try that scam on anyone who pulls in.

my dad had a similar experience at Chrysler dealership with his dodge ram...100k service package quoted at $650...when they rang it up afterwards they say $1200 before tax...my dad calls them out and they say ohhh do you have the 4L they must have rang it up for the 5L...so 1L extra of engine capacity equals an extra $600? So they claim it was a mistake and then charge him the $650...spilled DEF all down the side of the truck and never cleaned it up...not to mention spend 650 and they dont even wash it for free...dealerships especially are the biggest scammers out there
