More than 4,000 votes were cast in the Ontario OUT of DOORS Fall 2015 Trail Cam Contest and the first prize is going to Kocsis, for a night photo of several deer crowded near his camera.
The photo was taken this past August at the family farm in WMU90B, south of Tillsonburg. “I pulled that trail camera during the day and was frantically texting my dad the photos while he was at work,” Kocsis told OOD. “Some of the bucks actually bedded down on camera for a few hours and a few others are visible in different shots.”
This year, Kocsis, his dad, and two uncles hunted in the first November shotgun season. “My dad harvested the buck behind the one in the foreground on my uncle’s property on the opposite end of the block from where the photo was taken.”
He says they are still hunting the bow season.
This year, the photo contest included three categories, and his photo was the winner in the ‘game’ category.
Ronda Pegnam of Meaford submitted the winner in the ‘non-game’ category, with a photo of an eagle coming in for a landing.
“My partner, Tom Pobrislo, deserves a very honourable mention. Between he and I, we have been blessed to capture nature’s bounty in so many ways. The gift of a new trail cam will enable us to share great moments of wildlife in the years to come.”
Rob Campbell of Richmond will take home third prize for his submission in the ‘humour’ category. His photo of a deer was made more remarkable due to an approaching skunk. He, too, was thrilled to win.
Each of the winners will receive a trail camera, courtesy of Wildgame Innovations and OOD.
Thanks to everyone who submitted a photo or voted for their favourites. Keep an eye on OOD for future contest announcements.
