Canadian hunting and fishing retailer closing

Le Baron

After 58 years of retail, Le Baron Outdoor Products Ltd. is closing its doors.

The Baron family has helped shape the fishing, hunting, and camping retail landscape with three Ontario locations (Markham, Mississauga, and Ottawa), a Montreal store, and their catalogue.

A formal “notice of intention” was submitted in Quebec, which led to its insolvency. On Sept. 24, 2016, all four stores went into immediate liquidation but will remain open as inventory is sold off. Industry insiders speculate that this allows the company to undergo restructuring and attempt to reopen with a new focus, but only time will tell.
