They sent in another thousand troops today for a total of 1700 military troops plus the police force. But I also heard its spreading to other major city's so who knows what will be happening.
Definitely not good it's lready been a bad 2020 it doesn't need to get any worse.

This isn’t much different than Detroit in 1967....except a lot more cities are involved.....
Apparently a lot of the rioters/looters are not locals.
That's what happens when videos surface showing a white cop murdering a black man from start to finish with many people yelling at the cop what was happening to the victim and being ignored. The outrage is understandable. To add insult to injury,it took the Mayor to pressure the Police to take immediate disciplinary action and the local DA to lay a charge.. Like really? The Mayor actually had to do that? Then, the Governor gets involved and rolls all the way to the White House. That idiot Trump fumbles the ball with his usual big dumb Twitter mouth and the entire country ignites. Pile this all together with Covid-19 lockdowns, bodies stacked up like cordwood, unemployment higher than the great depression, racial tension as high as or higher than we of a certain demographic remember since the 1968 assassinations of M.L.King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, right wing extremists on one side and left wing extremists on the other with a political divide not seen since the US Civil War and that country's fuse has been lit and is about to explode.
X3 lol. Some are there just for the excitment or thrill others to to steal throw some booze into the mix and it's a disaster.
Wait till the peak of the hurricane they are already calling for more major storms. They are going to hurting some the end of summer if they get a few direct hits. They better get their act together soon . No need for that ki d of behavior

There are always many who show up to cause trouble and loot, we saw it with G20 in Toronto too.
I think there is a powder keg about to blow? The US is not stable and so many of the people there, are just looking for any excuse to let loose. I think they've found it? Law enforcement doesn't have a chance to control it, since it's their heads the people want to crush. It's going to be an interesting time....
I think that the cop in question should be behind bars - no doubt about it. What I am curious about is the video that is kicking around Floyd's arrest. I saw a longer video showing his walking away (hands cuffed behind his back) with a police officer and the next part of the video he is face down and a cop is kneeling on his back suffocating him. What happened between these two clips........seems to me that it was edited for a reason. Regardless of what Floyd may have done to end up face down on the ground is NOT an excuse for his murder but if we are looking at all the facts lets look at all the facts.
The point when protests get violent and looting occurs they should bring in the National Guard and restore order. The longer they let this go the harder it will be to stop it. By the looks of them it is not like any of them are heading to work Monday.
We have another protect in Toronto with people piggybacking on the US protests for the mentally unstable woman that jumped (or was pushed) from a 24 story balcony. SIU is investigating and they are already protesting in the streets - these are scary times.
There’s a story cnn Atlanta had a pallet of bricks Delivered and sitting on sidewalk
Cnn is feeding them. Just to get a story
I don’t hear anyone blaming Trump for what the white cop did, but his lack of leadership certainly speaks volumes.

I just hope Trudeau is smart enough to keep border closed. Because covid19 will flare up in the states with all these peaceful rallies
Every business owner needs to become the Roof Top Koreans like during the LA riots in the 1980's. The police cannot protect you..ever. they are too busy tear gassing and shooting people with rubber bullets at protests, and not dealing with looting.
Just to be clear, I dont ever condone looting or violence (those doing it are dishonoring George Floyds murder, and gives the police exactly the power they need), But peaceful protests are being dispersed with tear gas and rubber bullets.
It is happening in Canada also. we have instead our " Indigenous people " problem , they way they are treated by most in power starting with our Gov., and it trickles down to the way the coloured minority groups are handled/looked at.
It isn't as blatant as it is in the U.S., but it is still there "racism".
It may still be called racism but there's differing degrees of racsism. And it flows both ways.
Like Sawbill says,it's not a simple "black and white" (no pun intended) issue. It never is. It's real easy to fall into that trap. A lot of times,"racism" is nothing more than people acting like a**holes. There's a knack to telling the difference and it only comes with experience and wisdom.
Trudeau’s reaction to today’s questions was quite telling. Really had to think deep and remember his lines.
Seemed like there was less violence in the live feeds tonight, maybe the protests will fizzle out.
New York has lost it. Macy’s totally looted. Wonder after covid19 then this how many store small businesses will survive some won’t their burnt out
Tonights News on TV, both National and local was mostly about Racism.
On the National News, it showed a segment , here in Canada, where an RCMP Vehicle and the officer inside came up to an drunken Innuit and the cop opened his door knocking the man down purpoesly and then getting out and arresting him.
Racism was definitely mentioned and the RCMP cop was put on suspension.
We do definitely have it here in Canada.
Def. of Racism-prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
From Camb. English Dict.-the belief that people's qualities are influenced by their race and that the members of other races are not as good as the members of your own, or the resulting unfair treatment of members of other races:
Maybe the big question is what gives all the African Americans the right to riot, loot and burn buildings and vehicals to the ground? As far as Canada gos, what gives the FN's the right to block and shutdown railways and set fire to the tracks when they leave and not charged for any federal offences? Quite often a certain race of people become their own worst enemy from their own actions. Some may call it racism but what or how you expect anyone to have respect from repeated criminal behavior to try and get what they want? It's simply a form of extortion and most people dont agree with it. What's unfair is watching this kind of BS to go on with little to no consequence.
Gee what should the FN do to resolve the issues. The FN have waited about 150 years for Canada to follow through in the courts with the contracts signed with FN.
Trudeau said it was racist if you treat anyone differently, then I thought of the first nations how they are treated differently. So is our government rasist? Or is it our government only making the problem worse by singling them out ?
Maybe if they were treated the same as everyone it would be better.
I heard the protests in I think in Halifax of or new Brunswick sayin that even the blacks there were carded 6 times more than a white guy. When it was legal for carding people.
That's why carding didn't last, to many rasial players trying to protect the streets. Not just there but nation wide it was a major problem.
The police have to be more proactive and get the trust back from the public. Right now I thing the public has little trust in the police force. It's a big problem especially in the younger community. Not many will pipe up and tell them what's really going on. Even talking to a police officer will put fear in some people and they dont want to be seen with them that's another problem.
So why is it that many fear over talking to the police? If the public had more trust in them they would talk more .

Not only is public confidence in the Police eroding ,but, confidence in our political system is at an all time low, abysmal actually. What we are witnessing in the US is a symptom of that. It's only a matter of time before we start to see it here, for real, not just the usual miscreants like our homegrown "antifa" wannabes and circle jerk "anti-racist" mutts that never waste an opportunity to create mountains out of molehills. Until ordinary Canadians awake from their political stupor we will never see real change.
What you are seeing is people losing their $h!t because they are sick and tired of being treated like crap ... so it's a big middle finger to the government. Oh how many times do we wish we could stick it to our goof of a prime minister ... but here we are, us "white folk" ... typing on a keyboard, thinking that's gonna change anything ... lol. Maybe we need to lose our $h!t too, because we definitely are losing our rights, every day they take more and more away from us. The constitution is a joke now ... government FREELY abuses your right to privacy, your right to opinion and even your right to protest ... that is until you lose your $h!t and then not even the RCMP will deal with it. Just takes enough people ...
Sorry to say but no so. Go find 15 white folk and block the railway, set it on fire and let us know how you make out. You'll be dealt with swiftly. You will not be getting the same treatment as the FN's
Since when have the FN's been treated like crap? How many billions are they handed, how much taxes do they pay, paid education, etc. Maybe we should be taking some benefits away when they commit criminal acts against our country and our economy. Maybe throw some in jail but our liberals would rather hugathug, and call us white folk the racists....pathetic really
Its important right now that, as a white man, we try to understand why people of a different skin colour are standing up for themselves. Not, as you might think, to raise our hands and say "well if it was a white guy in that situation..." . Its not helpful to any side. If you really want to understand why black people are as afraid as they are, and as fed up as they are, please read about The Cornerstone Speech. Its important not to persecute ourselves for what happened in the past. But it's on our shoulders to try and adapt and to teach our young people that we can be better than our former selves.
Noob
People of different skin color that riot, loot and torch anything they feel like is not considered standing up for themselves. It's considered crime. What is it their so afraid of, by the look of their actions the dont seem to afraid of anything including the law.
I expect there are a number of white people instigating violence, burning and looting also....it’s not just minorities from the news I’ve seen,
The minorities and blacks in particular have a right to be distrustful of some police in certain areas, and everyone has a right to protest peacefully.
i don’t think it’s realistic to equate racism toward First Nations in Canada to blacks in the US. Stark differences.
And everyone questions why I left the traditional parties and joined the Libertarian movement. Because they want to remove restrictions imposed on the citizens, over property, self defense, defense of property and enshrine free speech. If you cant understand what is wrong, and how you have no rights, but only privileges (which are subjects to removal at any time EX: EMA) Until you can understand - that none of big parties care about changing our Constitution or Charter - as it grants them all power, over us. Until you realize, identity politics is but tribe division for political loyalty..nothing will change. The perfect example of this in action is Trudeau gun ban..it appeases a liberal vote, Conservatives will pander to the (gun toting redneck, Neanderthals) and votes will be made and secured over this issue...divide and enslave..meanwhile..no is asking why don't we have these inherent rights..we used to. It is because we are programmed to vote against something..I hate Blue so I am voting Red...4 years later dang the Blues are Stupid..look what Red is offering.. WE the people are led like sheep to be vote loyal and no one is seeing it, they are voting against something in anger, not for party policies or changes to our rights. Without rights over the State and more power then the state..we are but pawns in the game.
The State derives all its authority from the Constitution and Charter - which has no protections for your rights and freedoms. We have no rights in Canada.. I challenge anyone of you to tell what immutable right you own over government.
You are being gamed without even understanding you have been gamed.
Did those fine folks 'protesting ' the lockdown at state capital buildings, with 'weapons', get tear gassed? Why not?
AMEN. And THAT is the truth people ... Government and the Ultra-Rich simply don't give a crap about us. You're every move is watched by Google, and even the state police. You okay with the government knowing that your son is a drug addict and you are doing the best as a parent to deal with that crazy situation, and then suddenly one day, cops show up, because you lose your $h!t one day on your son that continues to steal and steal and steal to support his habit, and tell him you're going to knock him out (out of frustration, but have no real intention of doing so). This is not my situation, to be clear ... but that's where we are heading (if not already here). Do you know google listens to your phones? ... and no, I'm not crazy! There are audio logs that are accessible by you today ... just go to your google account, same with apple. Authorities have asked google and apple for access to this information, claiming they need it for counter-terrorism ... and now with COVID it seems the big-tech companies have agreed to share info with authorities. Do you know that "Ring" the doorbell/camera system is already linked to police as part of a neighborhood watch, and the use of controversial face detection technology has already been employed by Canadian police? They claimed they have stopped ... but they did this when it wasn't really legal to do ... so basically it's clear, they don't give a crap about your privacy and no doubt they abuse their powers. If the world was perfect, and the cops were perfect and followed the law and constitution to the T .... fine, I'm good with it, because if you're doing the right thing, you have nothing to worry about ... but do you know how many corrupt and even perverse individuals are out there working for our government? You think anyone with a bit of intelligence would state they are a "moral outfit" LOL, they lost their moral compass a long, long time ago ... maybe they never even had one. It's always been about control ... and the tactic in play is ... keep everyone happy ENOUGH to have peaceful protests ... prevent people from losing their $h!t.
15 people, that's nothing. I'm talking about 10,000 rocking up and saying screw this, I'm not taking anymore.
If you're saying 15 FN has the power of 10,000 white folk ... whatever, that's fine ... but there's a number where the government backs down, that I can guarantee ... don't believe me?
What fraction of minorities do you see in this article? What did the police do, was anyone arrested, or did they stand down??
https://www.citynews1130.com/2020/05...ed-crowd-park/
I think I posted this someplace before, but, the problem will be only 50K will show up out of 2.5M. They'll show up like they did the last time dressed in camo and blaze orange, looking like an insurrection army and the media will be only too happy to portray us as such along with pictures of the RCMP sniper teams on the roof tops and armed military in the street.. That will scare the living beejeezus out of the urban sheeple who still tend to believe everything they see on CBC and read in The Toronto Star as gospel according to Justin.
The number one rule of public relations is to NOT give the opposition the club with which to beat the living crap out of you.
Just imagine doing that during a virus pandemic graves would be pre dug

I hate racism. There is one race the human race. Those cops are murders. But Candice speaks the truth. George Floyd was not a wonderful guy.

As the saying goes ; A few bad apples... ? That would apply to all involved.
Heard two of those cops charged were rookies. One was forth day on the job.
I did not know that
Both were first week on the job one was his third shift
Being a "rookie" could be a double edged sword for them ? They were fresh from training but lacked field experience ? They were dealing with a person who was high on drugs and potentially dangerous . So did they panic and forget their training ? At least they will get their day in court to explain and that may shed more light on what actually happened. Same goes for what happened in Toronto. Until all the facts are in jumping to conclusions doesn't do any one any justice. It only makes things worse.
Cop standing with hands in his pockets 12 years on force
There's no evidence Mr. Floyd was "high on drugs". Lately,he had been treated for symptoms of Covid-19. There's ample evidence from several witnesses who will testify that Mr.Floyd's conduct was polite and co-operative. Being "rookies" is no excuse. They're fresh out of college and certainly should have known better. If they use the excuses as you described,it'll be all over for them except the clang of the cell doors closing behind them. There is absolutely no redeeming argument that can ever be made for the conduct of senior arresting officer holding the subject down by a knee to the neck, especially, after several witnesses and the subject told them that he couldn't breath. The other officers (rookies or not) are equally culpable for failing to stop the restraint. I have absolutely no sympathy for any of them.
Geez Trimmer, I didn’t know you were there !!!! The courts will sort it out !!
Note.....fentanyl and meth in system plus heart disease ....
https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/...topsy-70994420
That sucks about the 2 rookies
It's a shocker that the 3 just stood around said nothing or did nothing to stop it. For the amount of time spent with 3 of them doing nothing. Wonder if the othe 2 were showing them how it's done .
Like really how long do you need to be on the ground like that before your arrested. No need for the crap .
If it was me all 4 would of had to come cuz I would of totally lost it my shlt .
I have been into it with them before and the one officer had to be put in time out when the other cop had to put him in the car for a break lol. They just get the same respect as they dish out treat me like shlt I will treat them the same. I will always greet them with respect I expect the same from them or anyone for that matter.
Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk
I can see how the rookies did nothing.... They are on the job just a few days. They are greenhorns, looking up to the veterans for guidance. With no real life policing experience you need to cut the rookies some slack for not knowing what to do. With that said, under the resulting circumstances, not sure how much slack cutting is appropriate....
He was a good boy
What is not being told is the violent criminal history of George Floyd. The media will not air this,” police union president Bob Kroll told his members in a letter posted Monday on Twitter.
Floyd had landed five years behind bars in 2009 for an assault and robbery two years earlier, and before that, had been convicted of charges ranging from theft with a firearm to drugs, the Daily Mail reported.
Does his past realy matter for the way he was treated? So he had violent past ,he was also on ground cooperating they had ample time to search and arrested him. Not keep him pinned down while other officers watched for the amount of time he was down like that.
What was point in keeping him like that when clearly there was 3 officers doing nothing.?
Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk
Ya, it shouldn't really matter what he did in the past, it's how his real time behaviour that's only relevant.
The cop should have removed his knee from his throat, why didn't he do that, not sure but clearly if he had, that man would not have died that way.
The officer had his knee on his neck for nearly 9 minutes.
9 minutes
Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk
9 minutes and no letup at all...... What was he thinking..... or maybe he wasn't........ Clearly his training failed him. It was like he had narrow vision (blinders on/he froze?) there probably some clinical name for what he did because I don't believe the cop knowing wanted to kill him.
He was an almost 20 year veteran,so,he had no excuse. He also had 18 civilian complaints against him. How the hell was he still on the job? The same goes for the "look out" officer standing behind them scanning the street. He was also a veteran who had several complaints against him, too. Something is very, very wrong in St.Paul/Minneapolis Police.
I’m not denying Derek Chauvin killed Floyd
Have you seen the video. They had Floyd in the cop car. Buckled in door shut.
What did Floyd do to get pulled out and on the ground.
I'm sure the courts will sort this one out ... imagine what will happen to the USA if they don't convict that cop.
Talk about burning down cities.
In any case, the cop is a douche bag ... you don't need a judge or a jury to see that he's an idiot, and there was excessive
use of force. Even my friends who are cops are calling him a murderer ... and have no sympathy for him. Fentanyl or not,
what that cop did was excessive (in a gross way ... not sure excessive is the right word ... maybe "head blown crazy"? Not sure
the courts will accept that terminology).
I wonder what the cops would do if you were an innocent teenager and it was your first time out with the boys, and one of the kids in your car jumps out and starts to kick the crap out of someone, lays on his neck and he dies, all the while you are standing around and watching. I mean you didn't mean to be there, but you think the cops would have sympathy, or do you think they'd ask ... why didn't you intervene? Why didn't you contact the police?
Why should those cops get any special treatment?
From the look of things two of the officers were rookies (one officer was only on his 3rd shift as a police officer) and the other officer doing the kneeling was their training officer. You can't possibly expect those two guys to speak up with any conviction if they want to keep their career in line.
Sadly many get a badge and gun and attitude. Fortunately many are decent, good men and women who serve and protect.
Rookie 3rd shift, following with a training officer. He should be a witness not a defendant, that was his on the job training? Hard to blame a student for what he's being trained to do.
Bad cops come in all colors, they dont care what color you are, they brutalize who ever the f×=% they want.
I can attest, I have met enough of them...
Rick, I agree with the idea that the evidence will be presented in court and there are many facts to sort out....but the video evidence doesn’t lie. We’re all just giving our opinions, and it’s not as if any of them really count for much.
Some have asked what Floyd’s alleged crime was....I read somewhere that police were responding to a report of a counterfeit $20 bill. Picture that.
I’m not usually one to take the side of the flaky lefties, but if you start out poor, are jobless (maybe or maybe not due to Covid), likely have no health insurance.....the thought of losing your life over 20 bucks just makes me wonder if we have really progressed much as a society.
I’ve just watched a couple of videos on CBC and it sure is startling to see the things that a few cops are doing. I’m usually a law and order guy but seeing a 75 year old man knocked down by riot police, where he laid bleeding as they all marched by, is pretty alarming. I can’t imagine what threat they saw. The second one was from Indianapolis where 4 cops beat two women with batons.
These videos are a little too close to some of the scenes from the Handmaid’s Tale.
Why is it alarming? A huge group of officers, dressed in their riot gear, descending down the street, to confront protesters, and this guy stands there. He was shoved to get out of the way and lost his footing, fell down and was injured. What would you expect police to do? Shake his hand and give him a pat on the back? The officers in the front line are not going to break rank to attend to this guy, it's no doubt left to the team behind them, as did happen.
Whats alarming to me that anyone in their right mind, would try to block the path of a group of riot ready police. Dont fall into the leftist propaganda gobbly goop.
Don't kid yourself, you saw exactly what they wanted you to see, nothing more than the sales teams usual, partial truth.
What was he doing there? Seems pretty simple, if a riot squad is bearing down on you, get out of the way. Anyone that stand in the way should be left to the rules of nature, with a little more "survival of the fittest" we wouldn't have these issues to start with.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if millions of Police officers all over north America decided to say "Screw it,I'm done" and quit en masse,no crowd control units,no traffic units or SWAT teams. Geez,I just gave myself the "willies."
A cops job is to serve and protect us all even the ones that stand up to them......Can't (shouldn't be able to) do what you want just because you got a badge.
That's a given, fratri. Not the point we're making here. Very, very few LEO's carry on like that is the point, but,if they keep getting bashed in the media, assaulted and injured for doing what they're paid to do to the extent they are,it's not beyond the realm of possibility that most will cash in their pensions and find other employment.
De-funding police forces seems to be a topic of discussion the last few days ....I wonder how that is supposed to work??
From how I understand what people are talking about,I think they mean defunding the purchase of armored personnel carriers, sniper firearms, ballistic military vests, uniforms and,in general, completely de-militarizing Police forces across North America. The rationale is to halt the psychology of being turned into a Police state with Police being an army of occupation rather than a public service.
When I asked last year fall about the budget apparently it was capped and there was not enough money for them already. We were discussing how it cost a quarter million per officer a year to survive and do their job properly. Most on here said there was already not enough money for them.
Alls I wanted and said there was enough money from the budget for more than what they said and I was criticized by many, now they want to cut the budget by 10 percent.
I'm not down for a defunding of the police and I never was. I only wanted to know why it cost so much to get a new cop on the street and I was pretty bashed by it. How would they survive a 10 percent budget decrease how will we ever get new cops on the streets again when they may loose hundreds millions of dollars in the budget. How would they ever be able to do their jobs properly. Oh dear
Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk
I am sure that the political spin will win on this. They may say that the police budget should be cut by 10% but they will add (sneak) 20% in with a different title. I don`t believe for a minute that the overall amount of money that goes into policing will be reduced, if anything it will be increased just by another name. These guys all seem to have the same agenda, how to make me look good..... Political correction by any other name is a form of racism all on its own....
If you are looking for my opinion ... yeah, I think the cop that stood on his neck for 8 minutes, while people are telling him he's unresponsive didn't care and wanted him to die. You have to be without a brain to do that and call it an accident.
And yeah, the other two cops are involved, because they did not use judgement and stop it from happening. Crappy situation, but again I ask, what if it were flipped, and a black guy had his knee on a cop, and two of his black friends were there watching and did nothing to stop it?? What would the cops do?? Oh I know, they'd shoot them ALL.
Doesn't matter ... the law was broken, they didn't react. The are TRAINED for those situations ... and training failed them, or they ignored the training. Yeah, I feel bad for them, but if they turn a blind eye here, you know how bad it gets??? Talk about an organic culture for corruption!
We are slowly becoming a police state, with the police actions going unchecked! It has to stop!
You know I was in New York with my wife, and two cops stood there, right beside us, and were making sexual remarks about my wife ... easy for us to hear, and they really couldn't care less, they were talking at a normal volume ... how do you think that made us feel? I was like, do I pick a fight with these a-holes?? Where do I end up then?
It was simply a bad, bad situation, and we were helpless. The law became our enemy! IT HAS TO STOP! POLICE need to honor that uniform, or get thrown in prison. PERIOD!
OR maybe now they know they need to speak up when some a-hole senior cop looses his mind! They are also accountable, and they better be thinking, am I going to throw my entire life away because this douche bag cop is doing something bad, and I need to shut up about it??
In New York, you say? That's not surprising. They seem to be in a different universe. New Jersey is bad, too. Those folks are living 40 years in the past....."hey,how YOU doin'?" LOL I attended some GM corporate seminars in the early 90's in both Detroit and Lansing,MI. at Michigan State U. (go Wolverines). I met several local LEO's who seemed to be really decent people, but, did they ever have attitudes toward visible minorities. It became obvious that whites hated blacks, blacks hated Asians, whites and Latinos hated everybody. Fast forward 20 years or so and it amazes me to this day how they even function.
Yes, New York City, we were walking on our way to see Ground Zero if I recall correctly ... but the part where the cops were verbally sexually assaulting my wife ... that part is crystal clear and I probably will take that one to my grave. That was the day I realize that the police have corrupt individuals that simply don't give a rats about letting the world know ... I mean I knew there was corruption already, but not openly like that ... I felt like I was in some communist state where the government could just openly abuse people. I wanted to punch the daylights out of those a-holes.
I want to stress ... I have friends that are cops (I mean close friends, like one that I see very regularly) ... so this isn't an attack on police in general ... but it is an attack on those s that do this to people ... they are worse than murderers in my eyes ... total abuse of power, and deserve to go to hell as far as I'm concerned. Their brothers and sisters in uniform HAVE TO STOP turning a blind eye to this BS, and get all that stinky crap out of the force. The cops are losing their integrity en-mass and they'd bode well to root out this evil ...
This illustrates the difference between American and Canadian Police mindsets. Americans seem to have the attitude that they have "carte blanche" to be douchbags and nobody will call them on it,especially, their fellow officers. In this country, and this is by no means a slag to our own rank and file, but, that conduct does not go unnoticed and would very likely be reported. You were very wise not to confront those officers. Canadians in a foreign land, the US included, would do very well not to rock the boat with law enforcement. Nothing good would come out of it. It's unfortunate you didn't get the badge number. A detailed, respectful and carefully worded letter to the Office of the Mayor and NYPD Commissioner's Office quickly gets forwarded to their professional standards branch travelling down the chain of command until the load lands on the officer(s). They would likely come up with some BS explanation, but, from then on,they would be constantly under scrutiny by command. That's a position no cop ever wants to be in,no matter where they work. Once you send a letter like that, you will not likely ever hear another word other than a standard and cursory acknowledgement, but, believe me,shyte really does roll downhill.
Well, my wife is an American Citizen ... but, probably better that I didn't say anything ... but it sucks, doesn't it.
I've also had experience with bad cops here ... not as bad as the NY incident, but definitely cops that wrongfully accused me of holding a cellphone (the cellphone was in the cup holder and I was on the cars BLUETOOTH having a call with a contractor! The ticket was thrown out in court!). But this cop treated me like I had murdered someone and would not listen, yelling at me and just wild ... in court he was there, and someone else was also challenging his ticket. On stand he was shouting at the guy and making faces like nodding violently up and down as if to say "YES IT IS, YES IT IS". I honestly thought the guy was on drugs or something. Then the defense questions him and he got pissed off about it, at the end of the questioning he's dismissed from the stand and walks to the back of the court where he proceeds to THROW his diary at a desk in anger, and push out a chair so hard that it hits the back wall of the court room. Everyone in there was like WTF??
On that day, they ran out of time and couldn't hear my case, so onwards to a new date. I show up for the new date ... cop isn't there. My defense attorney says he was caught lying under oath and the judge threw him out of the court room (he lied on another persons ticket and they caught him). We challenged to say he was an unfit witness given he has lied under oath and it is on record. OK, date now is postponed so the court can wait for his commanders investigation to be done. Went back 1 month later ... the commander says it wasn't that serious, so he can continue his duties, so now the judge has to allow the case to be heard .... we were like, ARE YOU SERIOUS! He LIED during a hearing, and was THROWN OUT by the residing judge!
His commander says ... no issue??? Come on.
That's the proof in my eyes ... there ARE bad cops even in Toronto ... and their commanders are turning a blind eye. It happens even here.
What about the cops caught stealing cocaine from a crime scene, or the cops charged with sexually assaulting/raping a new fellow female police recruit that had too much to drink? They are no saints ... and as far as I see it, some are the exact opposite. They ruin it for the majority of cops that want to do the right thing ... and believe me for everyone of these "bad" stories, I have a "very good" story about a cop that was compassionate and cared for the community. But do I trust the police implicitly?? No ways, not with that level of corruption and abuse of power that exists.
So you ask why I don't believe in police surveillance ... it's because of this ... too much corruption ... if they were perfect, I would have NO issue with it. But, they are not perfect, not even close.
Body cams that cannot be turned off.
Yep, I can finally agree with something you said. Good for the accused and good for the officer.
Good for some officers....and some accused. It would clarify all, 'I said they said, I did they did ' arguments. Officer fired if turned off, period.
They already talked about it then said it would be to expensive lol. Would be 20 to 50 million to equip them all with cameras minimum. But I guess if they can fund visa 50 million to do business in Canada they can afford 50 million for peice of mind on the police force [emoji106]..
