Enjoying the Simple Things in Life

Just came inside from working in the garden all day - planted 2 rows of potatoes, 50 strawberry plants, lettuce. cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kohlrabi and kale plants - then put a new fuel pump on my Troy-Bilt tiller - I won't plant corn, tomatoes, peppers and other crops until the soil warms up a little more - I was tired and thirsty when I came in then sat down and had 2 new cold glasses of beer - boy did that hit the spot - then I thought to myself how I enjoy the cold beer so much - just a simple pleasure in life we often take for granted

Is new cold beer better the old cold beer..:confused: How old does a beer have to be, before it's not new beer any more? I have a case of beer that I have had for a couple weeks, is it still new beer or does it now become old beer.:sad:

I spent the afternoon cutting 2 ash trees into firewood and stacking the cut wood. I got to the house and my wife had put a glass in the freezer for my beer. Nothing better than a beer in a frosted beer glass after working hard! Tonight another simple pleasure, this year's first campfire!

Long day for me as well and just sat down for an ice cold Dutch beer called Grolsch. I think I'll have another with dinner . Cheers everyone !

Spent most of the day with fellow hunters from the Forum on a pigeon hunt. Had lunch with Ross and then returned to the farm to double check and do clean up. Found one hull( yup it was your's Ross. But it was rolled under a bale), and picked up two shot wads from the driveway. I don't think the Farmer and his son would have even noticed the stuff. So as far as the guys leaving a mess there was almost less then nothing. Headed home, but stopped off at a local shop to check on a few things. Got home and unloaded the truck of gear, puttered around the basement for a bit and then had supper. So I am now a few in to my cups..:Dhttp://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...atdrink009.gif

I'm taking the snowmachine down the lake tomorrow to cut and haul some firewood. Maybe I'll get to plant some spuds in a month or so.

Nice to live further south.

Out for a drive yesterday west of Cambridge, and saw 4 different farmers out and already plowing their land, also saw only 2 ground hogs and they were too close to the Cambridge City limits.

Sorry Snow' - I meant to type nice instead of new - but yes there are some beer makers who are putting dates on their beer because after a time the beer goes bad -

I went fishing on Friday and then spent yesterday raking off all the dead grass on the front yard and garden beds to get ready for some fertilizing this week. Picked up about 20 bags of triple mix and will be digging holes and filling them for the tomato plants at some time this week. A couple of weeks ago I helped dad frame more of the vegetable garden which was pretty gratifying....and I finally stopped shoveling snow a couple of weeks ago...lol

It's nice to have some sunshiney days to do some outdoor tending....and a nearly frozen drink of your choice to come inside to once you're all done. Looking forward to doing some fun cooking this week, including chicken paprikash, schnitzel, and some other fun stuff...it's nice to have this kind of life, couldn't agree more JoePa.

Enjoyed a fine time in the woods etc with the dogs to day. Many turtles out resting on the logs; dogtooth violets starting to sprout. Only planting pansies so far as the soil is not warm enough yet for anything else.

Washed the car, jeep & ATV.
Now watching the Blue Jays beating Boston and having a couple beers.

A very nice day indeed!

Did some raking and watched the ice melt on our lake. No open water Friday am, no ice this morning.....(Monday)
