AS loathe as I am to stick my nose in the neighbors business where it clearly doesn't belong,why do you think your federal government hasn't taken a carbon copy of our Firearms Act and applied it to federal law,making it legally binding on every state. It may not be the best system in the world,but,it's a damn sight better than almost everywhere else in the world and I'm sure you'll admit that something....anything....is better than what's clearly not working for America?Quote:

Between the nut jobs and terrorists running around one needs to be able to defend themselves if something ever happens - it gotten to the point where nobody in a gun free zone is safe - so now individuals are starting to recognize that -
While our system of vetting those who possess a gun ( or wish to buy one) would keep them out of the hands of some nut bars, it has also made it easier for the government to decide that we should only have certain guns and only for hunting or target shooting in certain places. The original FACs would have done what was needed to be done if they were FPCs (firearms possession certificates) instead.
If I had the choice , in our world today, I would rather be the guy that's armed...than the guy that's not.
Do people in the USA really feel they need armed protection like this? Not sure I would want to live in a country where I felt I had to pack a gun all the time. I'm sure there are some high risk situations where it might make sense but do you really need soccer moms packing pistols in Walmart when they shop?

As I've said before, America is both great but also a diseased society.
Universal carry of firearms for self defence will not stop terrorist attacks. But it will certainly turn the greatest nation on earth into a nightmarish murderous hell hole.
You need to find a clean/safe way to amend the Second Amendment so that Citizens feel safe with respect to their government but preventing the majority of loser nut jobs from getting their hands on a gun.

Yes I agree there are shootings that occur because of the availability of guns in this country - some could have been stopped by a better evaluation of mental cases but even here to what point can you force a mentally sick person to get help -
It boils down to this - freedom has a price - it is precious - many men and women have died over the years defending it - having freedom will at times cause difficulties but it is worth it - believe me - armed people are free people -
As soon as you start deciding that only some people can own/ carry guns, then the idea of all being equal goes out the window. This was the flaw in our original FACs.
