Grand Parent Rights
My son is currently going through a very nasty divorce. His X has made every despicable claim you can think of against my son. Until it finally gets through the courts he sees his kids, my grandchildren, for 2 hours every other week in a supervised situation. This is regardless of a court order allowing him to see them every other week unsupervised. She violates the court order, took her to court, make a long story short, proved she was in contempt, but the judge chose not to enforce the court order.
During the past 3 years of court battles, I have only seen my grandchildren twice for a total of 6 hours. And unfortunately that was the same for my wife who passed away almost a year ago now. She died never having the opportunity to know her grandchildren.
There is an online petition urging the Ontario government to give grandparents right to see their grandchildren.
I lost my father when I was 8 years old, my uncles and my grandfather stepped in help see that I was raised right. I want to be able to teach some of what they taught me to my grandchildren.
I am asking that everyone sign the petition, share it with friends and family, because I never want anyone to go through what my dear wife had to suffer through.
Thanks for reading.

I wish you the best of luck with your grandkids. Thy need the wisdom of the older generation to teach them respect for them self and others. Why some spouse want to be this way is terrible and the kids are the ones who miss out as well as the grandparents. It's to bad. D

Done, for sure.
I know quite a few dad's beating mom's in these cases in recent years. But it's still rare. Good luck to your family.

I'm a new grandpa and I couldn't imagine what your going through. All the best!

Done.. Unfortunately what is happening to you is still far to common. The mothers word is gospel no matter what and the dad has to prove beyond a shodow of a doubt otherwise. It may be a no win situation for the time being but I reccomend that u and your son stay strong for the sake of the children. Like it or not you are at the mercy of the courts and they almost always side with the mother. Stay strong and stay supportive and never break any court orders.
The bright light is that when the kids get older they can advocate for themselves and usually can see through the BS the parent ( parents have put them through). if the kids are 12 or older ( i think thats the age, could be younger,, ask a lawyer ) they can advocate for themselves and tell a judge what THEY want.
Buddy went through this and the court appointed a legal representitive to investigate and speak on behalf of the kids, the kids wanted both mom and dad to raise them so the judge ruled that mom and dad had alternate weeks. One week with dad , then one week with mom, ect, ect. So on and so on.
It has worked well so far but if you're grandkids are quite young I dont know if this is an option but definately worth looking into.

Signed with pleasure. Family law in this province is a mess.....along with everything else.

Signed Paul, I've been there. My ex-wife used to use my daughter as a pawn to get at me. My daughter now 20, is closer to me than her mom.
I agree with Trimmer, Family Law in this province is a mess and is the most Draconian, sexist law on the books. In an era of equality, this legislation is a dinosaur, but nobody has the guts to do anything. I also know situations where the man has the kids and does the same thing. In a case where one partner is the custodial parent, they need to be incarcerated for failing to provide access. If they other partner fails to pay support their wages can be garnisheed or they can be incarcerated.

Agree with Roe and Trimmer.
Ms Wynne (and possibly McGuinty) acknowledged that family law in Ontario is broken and badly in need of fixing. Promised years ago to start changing some things............................................ ..........................................
Signed and shared on FB.
