Likely some hand guns
Couple of Karen’s
It’s different world. Hell just reading this site proves we’re willing to eat are own
OK It was an invasion force sent by THE DONALD to take over Canada, they got stuck in the snow and were only firing of shot's so that they did not freeze to death, having invaded from Florida and only wearing T shirts and camo shorts. No biggie they will get a Presidential Pardon.
I’d sure like to know more about this case !!
Not off to a good start. Please do not engage in racially charged comments or directly try to goad members.
Won't take much to post hole this thread.
I believe FFF is talking about my Posts. However in all honesty I fail to see why it was deemed racist
I'll bet a week's pay there's a whole bunch that the media didn't report. The boys screwed up big time with the hand guns outside of an approved range.
Gun fire - holy sheet - if the cops were called every time someone hears gun fire around here the cops would have to be here permanently - I hear gun fire all the time and it's just considered normal country noise - like rosters
It seems by the article that 3 of them are with multiple firearm related charges-the rest of them seems to be "only"users of other ppls firearms.
Thanks for the posting, like rick_iles it would interesting to know more about what was afoot. There was an interesting cast of character charged with firearm offenses, maybe a Toronto street gang are branching out into new territory and though being in a rural area would give them the opportunity to test out some of their new imports without drawing any attention. Pick a bad time of the day after sunset to try them out.

You have to admit rick, it would be a great angle, on which to reign down some more injustice upon law abiding firearm owners. What is more scary is that there is enough illiteracy when it comes to the legal use of firearms, that it would be an easy sell. I’m sure JT with his ability to fear monger could make quite a bit of hay, with his urban voting blocks, that this is what the hunting community does after the hunting season.

Much of the properties north of Orangeville and Shelburne has been purchased by East Indians as its within commuting distance from workplaces in Brampton. As you probably know also East Indians are big into farming both here and in B.C. so strong possibility they were on their own properties or relatives properties.
I guess they are going to get the education in firearms they never learned in the CFSC or hunters education course.
Well magic, a Pakistani is a person from Pakistan, which is a different country from India.
If you have a Map and the ability to read it you will discover that for yourself, while you are reading maybe look up derogatory words and try not to use them.
Just trying to lighten it up a bit Gils
Yep......a bunch of citiots getting together on a private farm thinking they can do whatever they want. I wonder how that will work out for them?
Some of them will be serious criminal charges especially discharging restricted firearms outside of a gun range designed for such.
This will be a tough one, but at the end of the day it was a bunch of guys that knowingly and willingly made some real dumb decisions and they need to pay the price. It is painfully obvious that the owners of these firearms are NOT responsible and do not represent the majority of Canadian firearms community so at the very least some free room and board along with a lifetime firearms ban.
To be honest if it was a bunch of white guys that did the same thing I would probably be more angry as this would feed directly into the liberal rhetoric for such a gun ban.
I agree. But when you look at the amount of gang bangers getting caught with loaded illegal guns, they get slap on the wrist punishment, most spend little to no time in the crowbar hotel.
Liberals don't like to be harsh on their criminal voters, they need all the votes they can get....
Wonder if any cabelas ammo was being fired off in the dark
All the charges seem to me to be pretty light. There weren't any "unlawful possession" or "unlawful transport" charges laid. There should have been a bucket load more than what there were.
I find it interesting that only two got charged with " Unauthorized possession of Firearm." That usually means they are not licensed to possess firearms. Since they seem to be talking about restricted or prohibited firearms: Does that mean that rest all had R-PALS? I can't imagine what the prohibited devices might of been, definitely not silencers, maybe over capacity magazines, or possibly illegal ammunition. I don't see any amount for the number of firearms, perhaps everyone had one. I just notice on my original entry it said there were 28 firearms..

When officers arrived in the community north of Orangeville, Ontario, they heard the sound of gunshots from a large field on County Road 17.
The officers later entered a building and charged 17 people with 28 firearms and weapons-related crimes.
The officers also seized eight firearms that they found at the scene.
So if there was a house with a gun safe all would be seized right and added to tally ?
Good job by the Dufferin OPP to arrive on scene of active shooting and arrest 17 people and charge with 28 firearm offences. I wonder if these OPP could have served a search warrant to the 70 year old Norfolk gunsmith without killing him.
There was 2 of them charged with unlawful possessions , one of them was even for a restricted or prohibited firearm.
Plus one of them was with the wording which likely means -no ATT /not authorized location for use of a legal firearm. That person seems to have 2 legal guns, used wrongly.
Somehow i think -one "supplier"was fully legal, but was using his/her guns where he/she should not be using them/allow others to use them.
Two of them seems to have something illegal/restricted, they brought it/them to the site traveling in the same vehicle together-thus being charged for the conveyance also.
The rest seems to be casual shooters.
Unless some criminal background-it seems a stupid New year celebration ,which should never happen.
Bragging-peer pressure-show off attitude-and likely a whole lot of booze(whiskey would be my bet)
Slightly off-thread so I’ll apologize, BUT…why should it be illegal to shoot handguns on your own farm ? But legal to shoot targets with magnum rifles ?
I think the reason is that handguns are too easy to hide and too convenient to shoot or threaten someone with, Also they appear to pose a problem from law enforcement because of their low visibility and their handiness in the commission of crimes. A person heading down the street to the bank, with pistol in his belt, hidden by his jacket is not like to garner much attention. If the same person headed down the street to the bank with a magnum rifle in hand I suspect, it wouldn't belong before he garnered the attention of law enforcement. I believe that was the reason for restricting handguns use to pistol ranges, where their movement and use could be monitored. Who would image using a handgun, afield for hunting game. I would, in my youth I found them quite effective in polishing off cottontails on the run.

Wow!! Hardly noticed anyone jumping up to defend liquored up goofs shooting up the countryside.
If you're on a property in rural Ontario after dark firing a handgun on New Year's Eve you're a goof. Odds strongly favour liquored up too. They deserve everything that happens to them and probably more.
Actually I recall before Trudeau their was a piece of legislation that pretty much restricted you from having a handgun outside of your residence, like if you lived in a rural setting it was breaking the law to walk out into your backyard with a handgun do some target practice with it, and this was well before Trudeau, I'm thinking it came into existence when a Conservative government was in power, perhaps around the time of Kim Campbell or possibly before. I remember it ended my endeavours at doing backyard target practice or doing a bit of handgun hunting. Again their is no Ontario law the prevents the use of handguns in hunting, it is the restrictions in federal legislation that prevents you from doing so, unless, of course, you can come up with an authentic revolver that dates back to the American civil war period, or a handgun that doesn't fall under federal restriction.

Thanks for the great summary impact, it looks like it was after Bill-51, that I probably got the idea it wasn't a wise idea to do backyard target practice, or take the handgun out for a fore ray about the farm for a rabbit or woodchuck hunt. However, there appears to have been a number of other laws before that, if I had known about them, that might have discourage such activities.

Well I'll tell you something - after reading all the posts all I can say is - thank God I live in the good old U.S. of A when it comes to gun ownership - I think it won't be long and things will be like Australia - I read where people are being jailed for talking about the vaccine in a negative light - the population has been disarmed and can't do anything about it -
NO JOE THE POPULATION HAS NOT BEEN DISARMED, A SIMPLE CHECK ON THE NET WOULD GIVE YOU ALL THE FACTS AND FIGURES.
WHEN YOU CONSTANTLY POST INACCURATE INFORMATION YOUR CREDIBILITY IS SHOT.
