When we are living in Res trailers working to pay this off
I truly have a problem with all of this. It wouldn't bother me as much if they were contributing to the economy , working, paying taxes, etc. But just sitting back and waiting for the rest of society to foot the bill is what I find hard to swallow... At one time there was pride within the FN, where is it now....
All the effort and cost to Canadians under the guise of "reconciliation" for so many years just went out the window. This will set back the relationship with the FN for the average Canadian for many years going forward.
Glad our taxes are hard at work.
Making a difference.
I'm going to keep my mouth closed on this one lol.

They always want more compensation, indicates how unwilling they are to work for themselves. Outright lazy, not all but the vast majority.
I guess their distaste for 'colonialism' is all a shame....it's obviously all about money if it buys their forgiveness...what good little capitalists.
Not gonna comment on the amount but will provide something for context. After WW2 in 1945 Germany was required to make reparations in the amount of $23 Billion USD. Adjusting for inflation and USD that would be roughly $450 Billion Cdn today. Many millions of deaths and wide scale destruction in WW2 - Draw your own conclusions.
What will it take as a society to end this insanity of keeping people segregated in perpetual subservience by paying people to do nothing? It amazes me FN would still put up with that crap among their own people. Sooner or later,FN leadership who are by far not stupid people will need to step up,pull their people up by their boot straps and end the loonacy. It's frickin' obscene and a national embarrassment.
Well there are 80,000 survivors of residential schools and I believe up tp 6,000 perished in those schools either from disease or in many cases unlawful death.
If civil law suits from all the survivors were launched and unlawful death suits launched against those involved, Federal Government, Churches and so forth this figure might end up being a bargain. If the Churches could avoid the hammer, then the Federal Government that granted them the authority would be on the hook.
There are 359 aboriginal lawyers in Canada.
