Think back to the spring. I want to say March, it might have been early April.
Many here, and "out there" were commenting on China's draconian measures. All kinds of "comments". One being, leo/officials going into people's houses and forcefully removing people with Covid.
/points to the arrest in Quebec.
Either people take COVID seriously or they don't. If they don't they accept the consequences of violating the current laws temporarily restricting their movement and activities. If they die an horrific death hooked up to a ventilator it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. The problem is someone else might face the same fate through no fault of their own.
Are you a cop??
First of all, you are making A LOT of assortations there, with NO evidence ... what exactly did you see in the video that suggests see did something unlawful, other than to assume what transpired?
I am not against cops, in fact, one of my best friends is a cop ... and I support the ones that aren't power tripping ALL DAY LONG.
What actually pisses me off the most about power tripping cops, is it ruins the reputation of the good cops, my buddies!
If you're going to sit here and tell me that power tripping cops isn't a problem right now ... time for you to start waking up and realizing the truth!
It is a MAJOR problem ... you see some cops think they are above the law ... they become comfortable with their positions, and then think it's okay to do whatever you want to get your objective done. Sometimes, that objective is criminal, but in most cases, that objective is to charge someone, and let's ask ourselves ... is it okay for a cop to break the law, just so they can charge someone that is breaking the law?? NOPE.
In any event, what gives a cop the right to demand ID? Must there be no basis ... can they just come up to anyone and start harassing them for ID?? Sounds like a police state to me, if that is allowed to happen! Then throw away your rights ...
Like the poor politicians, doctors and more including most of those that are in favour of restrictions.
Decided some people should sacrifice, but they shouldn't. Nope not them, they want other people to pay the prices.....Me, I take Covid seriously, very. That doesn't mean I agree with the way we are handling it, the way we are intentionally killing others, and not stepping up.
Me, I can count on one hand the number of people I've seen in public without mask since July. And with respect to those taking massive financial hits for everyone else's well being and getting little but virtue signaling in return. I sincerely doubt, seriously sincerely doubt they are the one's flouting SD, taking risk. That group, more than any other group wants this over....And while there are always the fringe elements on both sides. This latter group, more and more and more, are the people "protesting".
So who is the problem.
Not hard to figure out
We'll see what comes out of this ... my gut says the police are going to get hit over the head for that one.
Let's assume for a second, she just irritated that female captain, and she went on a power trip ... let's give the woman with child the benefit of the doubt for a second ... would you not act that way, if you felt the police were violating your rights?
You know ... I was visiting New York City with my wife ... and two d-head cops were standing there while we waited for a traffic cross walk to go green. They were openly making sexual comments about my wife ... clear to hear, we were both shocked ... I didn't react because I knew it wouldn't end well for me ... but do you know how violated and powerless we felt ... COPS doing that??? So this happens, it happens EVERY day ... it's a big problem ... and it's only the 1% or 2% ... the other 98% of the cops must suffer because of all those d-heads. And so, must we not applaud the ones that have the guts to stand up to that disgusting behavior?
Do you know one thing they ARE doing right in Australia? The government publishes detailed information on exactly how COVID transmission is occurring (shops, restaurants, family gatherings, etc) ... and they have flexible shut downs to deal with it where there is a problem ... NOT mass shut down and kill the economy, and drive suicides up like crazy! I'd like to know, where are the majority of these 3000 cases a day coming from? Is it the family meetings during Christmas? Is it at work? Is it at Walmart with the other 500 people fighting over the last roll of toilet paper? Where?? And once we know where ... should we not amend policy to stop that particular mechanism?
Fighting COVID is necessary, yes. But, there's a right way and a wrong way. Do you think a complete lock down of some small town in Northern Ontario that has zero covid cases is going to do anything?
MarkB, it makes me laugh ( not).
If we actually wanted to try and get ahead of this. We would be trying different things, as well as looking at countries where they do seem to be getting a handle. Australia is one good example. They are doing things somewhat surgically. That would mean Ford would need to find his cohonnes and backbone. Piss off the GTA and larger cities. Crack down on 'them'. It would also mean people in public service taking large pay cuts to save a few dollars, as well as stiff fines or taxes. Have we not used RIDE for 40 years to deter drinking/driving? At the simplest, how much faster might we be rolling out vaccines.....
But we all know why he hasn't. Him crying about for airports is a joke. While he's "right"..........
