Dropping the rate leaves more cash in companies to invest in technology and to hire more people. It also allows the company to pay dividends to shareholders...some of us that don't have PS pensions invest in companies to fund our retirements. I'm guessing you have a company or PS pension?

Are you trying to say the US corps. did not do the same thing , while paying the 40% tax? The facts are we have one of the lowest corporation tax rates in the world. Huff Post states that Canadian Companies in 2014 had 71 billion in Barbados , 39 billion in the Cayman Islands and 199 BILLION in total in offshore accounts with the sole purpose of avoiding paying Canadian taxes on the money. Yet lets lay off a teller who makes 40 grand a year , how is that working?:rolleye:

The fact that we have one of the lowest corp tax rates in the world is false. Before you go on spewing crap like that, how about you do a little fact checking.

You just can't get it can you.... it is just beyond your mental firewall that separates your views and reality, you seem to only like the idea of taking as much from the builders and innovators as possible.
SO WHAT if we aren't taxing the builders, innovators and employers as much as you want... take take take... not build, not hire, not research and innovate... take more, take more... what until we are last?

When you increase the taxes THAT is when the teller gets fired (NDP tax increase probably doubled the Alberta job losses), when you increase the electricity rates to the highest in North America that is when companies leave and all the staff get turfed (300,000 in Ontario so far). The jobs are leaving, huge projects ($200,000,000 in the Leamington greenhouse case) leaving the province while the Ontario Liberals have increased the debt by over $100B and all you can do is say tax the companies more... I give up, ...... don't worry, the Liberals have been intouch with little green men from Jupiter and they will show up before the next election in their union built ships and pay off the debt and sprinkle magic dust and make it all better and give enough that they can do more gas plants, ehealth etc..

Globe and Mail reported on a survey done by KPMG that stated, ' Canada has the 2nd. lowest corporate tax rate among 14 major countries , and lowest among developed countries'. That was from your beloved G and M.

OK. I wasn't going to bother but here it is.

Corporate tax rate is still fairly high. Canada as a federal tax only charges 15%, but the provinces charge their taxes as well, in Ontario that means an additional 11.5%. So overall, a corporation doing business in Ontario has a COLLECTIVE tax rate of 26.5%.....much higher than a lot of other places, but that's only the tip of the iceberg.

When you couple that, with the added licensing fees, eco fees, legislative fees, mandated participation in other things like WSIB who's rates are arbitrary, as well as some of the highest utility costs on the continent, as well as a baseline wage that is nominally higher, it all contributes to an overhead cost of doing business here that is pushing companies out.

Magna International ( Headquartered in Aurora ON) announced last year that they would be spending $14 billion on it's operations and upgrading them, not a dime was earmarked for its Canadian operations.......I wonder why.....

2nd of 14th is a pretty small group considering there are a couple of hundred countries in the world.
An Ontario corporation (11.5 prov tax) comes in at 26.5%.
Not sure which those 14 countries were, but that's a pretty select group - but completely meaningless unless we know who they are - maybe US, Pakistan, Cameroon, Zambia, Malta etc who are all 35% and higher.

I have to chuckle when I hear the leftys curse big business. Those fat pension plans that the left live very well off of are invested in what again? Pot, meet Kettle...........:ashamed:
