"a white boy with a gun in his hands is standing on the heads of three Asian people" - if they were Japs during WW2 it was acceptable - what's acceptable at one time may not be at another time - I would say that the 6 books (if you say so) have stuff like that it would be nice to stop publishing them - there are movies that portray the way things were in the pass and should not be tampered with (Gone With The Wind) or books (Huckelberry Fin) - you can't erase history nor should you try - we learn by our mistakes and hopefully become better because of it - slavery was accepted since biblical times - it went on for years though out the world - you can't erase it - it was wrong but accepted for a long time - what are we accepting today that will be looked at in the future as something horribly wrong - I can name a few -
Sorry for my impatience. For those who care to look at the evidence, certainly before condemning the cessation of publishing, please view the books. Many things that were common place , main stream media, 50 years ago are unacceptable now. Times are changing , put them in a museum. certainly not in this day and age, in cartoons and books directed at children. Not because it is PC, but because it is the right thing to do.
I notice lefties claim everything is racist until it affects them, then they say they are misunderstood. So is it OK for Liberals to be racist day in and day out?
Personally Liberals in general are the most racist people I have ever met. I'm not joking, Trudeau is probably the most racist and Misogynistic ever in Canada. Only a Trudeau has ever sent the Military out on Canadians. Trudeau's father drove around wearing a Nazi helmet. How about "I felt differently about it", lied on his resume to be Liberal leader. In private sector and in the "Real World" Trudeau would be on Skidrow.
The whole affair reminds me of Ray Bradbury's book 'Fahrenheit 451'. Banning and Burning books due to political posturing.
Interesting, but not surprising, to see those on here with politically left leanings, support the idea of banning literature.
Quote:
Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel by American writer Ray Bradbury, first published in 1953. Often regarded as one of his best works,[4] the novel presents a future American society where books are outlawed and "firemen" burn any that are found.[5]
Lol, just read through a few pages of the same old same old.
“What no reply”
From the same people that never criticize the left. Never respond to things when their views are challenged or shown to be baseless...
That challenge is rich in humour and irony.
We few are heroes and martyrs. Look at us. Yep, attention seeking...
Do the majority here forget others are allowed to express different opinions? Yep.
But seriously what do people expect? I’m pretty sure if this were a forum for say poetry and book clubs. There’d be 10 Liberals for every Con. Me,,while more centrist, with both socialist/Con bias, I would tread carefully in such an environment and respect the fact My views are going to be in the minority.
Welcome to 2021
Where universities treat Con views with hostility. Where the Liberals in cities treat rural people no differently.
Majority rules doesn’t it?
and for the record, I’m in the minority in this topic too. Yet, was able to navigate it....
Yet no one has gone out on a limb, to say that an illustration of a black man being whipped by a white character, is acceptable in a children's book. Why ? Because it is not. They are not banning the book, just not printing any more. You could still go buy a copy now if you wish.
