So why don't you think about the implications and impact of you decisions, I know I did and that's why I started a thread hoping a few more Canadian MADE items are sold. Not Canadian pretenders like Freedom Lures (all made in China and shipped half way around the world) and some of the other fakers but real MADE IN CANADA companies like Len Thompson or Ciscoe or Williams.

When it comes to lures and you're into crankbaits then you're right out of luck buying Canadian. Its very hard if not impossible to compete with China when it comes to crankbaits. Who in their right mind will spring for a Rapala(Finnish) at $10 a pop when you can buy something from China with a quality finish and action at $2.00 per lure?
I prefer to buy Canadian too but there's so many products that are cost prohibitive when compared to the asian market, knock-offs or not.

I can still remember as a kid (early 60s) when we first started to see "Made in Hong Kong" labels on stuff. It was an affront to us even as kids...

In the hard body there is Canadian Wigglers and Fishinator Lures and Hang Belly are all I can think of, Kiko I haven't heard of for awhile so they might be gone but I still have a couple I haven't opened and I will take A.C. Shiners over Rapala's any day of the week. I got into some good prices on Rapalas awhile ago when a shop closed and added a couple to it when Lebaron closed. I found that I didn't use them or have as much success as others and actually put most of the unopened ones in an old tackle box and put them up for sale on Kijiji, they weren't even opened. For me I find Canadian Wigglers seem to always do better than Rapalas and those I have still have been replaced often by A.C. Shiners that I think are better than Rapalas and actually made in North America atleast. There are lots that call themselves Canadian that are just pretenders like Freedom Lures, Lyman, Badd Boyz and the other sell outs I just refuse to buy. Lots of softbaits made locally like Anglers Choice and Bass Magnet so they are easy to come up with and avoid the others. Moonshine is made in the US and so are many Linder so I pick them over the made in China fakers for ice fishing.

It just takes a little thought and time to look for products made in Canada (or atleast US), the price might be a bit higher but who do you want to have the jobs and collect the profits, someone in Canada or the US?

China has become expert at reverse engineering. A fraction of the price on many items. Hard to resist when our dollar is stretched so thin.

An example would be gas engines. Although not Canadian, we are familiar with Honda engines and reliability. To be honest, I have used quite a few products with "Chinese" engines over the last 10 years and none have failed except a John Deere garden tractor with a Briggs motor that blew the head gasket twice.

Your Honda motor was probably made in North Carolina, Thailand or Japan... from the Honda engines page.

So your not making the effort to try and help the industries still in Canada .... I guess it is your choice..... your "impact" seems to be mostly to the groin area of the Canadian industries given the attitude you have represented there. We see our louse of a PM not wanting the sanitizer made here etc., asking people to understand the implications of their choices and make ones based on morals doesn't work for some I guess

There are options but sadly you just don't want to look, I know Generac and Winco are both made in the US but I am sure there was one made in Canada a few years ago....the Tecumseh motors are all still North American made, but I don't think they are in generators now... well maybe someday you can have an impact that benefits Canadians.

The John Deere snowblower with the Tecumseh motor I have must be almost 20 years old and runs great... it cost more than the cheap ones... in the short run. The lawnmower with the Tecumseh ... it's way over 20 now!

Interesting when you post a buy made in Canada and instead of where people are buying from and opportunities you get people throwing water on the fire saying don't... sad
