See. There is a flaw with what many people have in their perception of what is right, or just.
We live in a Capitalist Economy. Corporations are not owned by the general public, but rather their shareholders, or simply the people who built them. They operate for profit. They are an animal that makes profit, and does not necessarily have to do anything for the community, or population at large. The fact that many do, is nice ( much of it is for public perception, not because of altruistic drive), but again, they don't need to. The fact that they employ many, and pay taxes wherever they operate is simply overhead, not a duty, and they will quite simply do business where they can operate with the lowest overhead possible.
Too many of the left fail to understand that. They have the perception that big corporations and big money are evil.....nope, they are in fact just doing what they are designed to do. It's when a government who is taxing a captive public, takes those funds and misuses them, or abuses their position that the evil really is occurring.
We were talking how we are being gouged at the pumps around here (Belleville) over Christmas and that night when I stopped to top up at the new Pioneer station they had a sticker on the pump titled "Taxes on Gasoline Prices in Ontario". This is what it showed.
13% HST
$0.10 per litre Federal Excise Tax
$0.147 per litre Ontario Road Tax
Nothing like taxing a tax. If gas is $1 per litre we're paying $0.377 in tax.
It's no wonder why either level of government ever does anything about the price of gas being manipulated.
Not sure where you got the "8th most advantageous country from".
If you add together federal and provincial taxes we're in the top tier of corporate taxes.
Given that there are 11 countries with NO corporate tax, I can't see how we come in 8th.
Canada is 15 fed + 11-16 provincial so about 26-31%.
Excellent post! The trouble with the left/unions is that they regard all profitable corporations as benevolence societies where those profits are used to drive socialist handouts for others that don't/can't quite grasp the concept of work to get ahead in life. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. The sense of entitlement to some of these people boggles the mind.
Unions and the left usually think there is a free lunch, look at the whining over the accountability and disclosure laws the Conservatives put in place... the first thing Poodeau did was to have a meeting with the unions (where the press wasn't invited) to tell them they would be rolling those laws back.

So essentially Justin and the Liberals said... Canada is back... (back being secret deals, back room spending etc. you know.. corruption! Union corruption and organized crime have been at odds alot but partners alot too and the Liberal policies seem dedicated to the continuation of the corruption, continuation of the entitlement and the actual dislike if not hatred of innovation, hard work and integrity!
See. I vote blue. Always have. Why? Because blue has always had a mandate of fiscal restraint. Cutting when things were getting too fat. They also are about allowing the economy to grow through a thriving business sector. What is good for business has always been good for the country. Business thrives? People have jobs, pay taxes, buy products, invest, take the wife out to dinner ( and then employ lots of secondary folks).......everything works well.
It's when the left start screaming about "profits", "the plight of the common man", and "taxing the higher brackets to make us more equal" that I get irritated. This is the same mentality as the "Everybody gets a trophy".
If we make it so there is no reward for initiative, creativity, or drive....why would anyone apply themselves.
For the 8th, most advantageous report it came from Forbes. KPMG states in 2006 the rate for Canada was 33% for the USA ,40%. In 2015 it was 26% in Canada and still 40% in the USA. Pray tell how dropping the rate helped us, ( not the company), and how keeping the rate higher, hurt the US ?
