Here in Ontario we had better do something about ATVs this summer. Probably more accidental deaths than guns.....

Pat you are better off banning swimming especially in pools. More lives will be saved. Close the beach at L'amble.

Joe if you follow my chain I was simply pointing out that I believed that a statistic used was inflated. I'm a firm believer that accidental gun deaths are preventable and the onus is on the owner. I spend a lot of time introducing people to shooting sports and teaching safe firearm handling.

I often get criticized by people who aren't around guns why I would teach kids including my own how to use guns. I'm of the opinion it should be taught in school at the minimum of ACTS and PROVE as it would surely prevent deaths from the furthest northern village to a downtown alley. I tell people this, kids are going to be around water so we teach them to swim because it could save their life. Kids in my family will be around guns so I teach them safety and how to use them cause it can save their life. At present a child is far more likely to die by drowning then with a firearm.

My daughter is 4 and knows about safe handling.
