Say, in 5 years or 15 years, depending on some magical day 50%, of people buy an EV. A “small” ( lol) levy is added to hydro bills to recoup revenue being lost at the pumps. Until such time EV adopter are getting a free ride.
If that levy is added when 25% of drivers have an EV. The other 75% are getting dinged on their hydro usage, through the surcharge oaying for the greenies.
Hydro 1s peak rate is 17.x cents. Off peak is 8.x. If the liberals are in charge, no doubt they'll replace all smart meters, with smarter meters that have direct line to the charger :)
Some European countries seem to be doing ok thus far with infrastructure. Though I read last year, the various manufacturers that have been putting in stations, there's trouble brewing with rate plans.
Some US States are looking at charging EV owners based on Mileage when the renew their drivers Sticker License.
