The video shows police brutality against a mother and her child. Especially of the officer trying to throw her into the back of the van and slamming the door on her legs.

edit add: she was charged: NSW Police confirmed late on Saturday night that she had been issued with a public infringement notice (PIN) and a subsequent $1000 fine.

Basically a Covid related charge/fine....for not social distancing.

The Judge will have a field day with this..especially since it's all captured on video.

Well I’ll tell ya , if the police had the authority to arrest her, and she resisted the arrest, the police are authorized to use as much force as necessary to affect the arrest. Bottom line... if you are being arrested, do not resist...courts will decide if the arrest was lawful. Compounding your troubles with a Resist charge, or even an assault PO charge, won’t help your case ! She apparently didn’t get that memo !!

Agree..but what is on the video is 'excessive force'..considering what she was being arrest for. That will be what her lawyer will go after and won't have to work to hard to get. .

I saw nothing that was excessive. I saw the officers trying to arrest someone who was actively resisting......what she was being arrested for is irrelevant. The active resisting was the cause of any escalation in the use of force...
If anything, she should have been cuffed...standard policy when arresting someone !

Rick, I do understand what you are saying ... but we have to put this in perspective ... she is a lady, with a kid, walking around with a non-threatening sign around the neck. She doesn't have a weapon, she is not selling drugs, she is not doing anything more than maybe annoying a few people ...

She can go tell the cops to f themselves, and it still isn't a punishable offence ...

We have 10+ cops there, and they throw her in the back of a van?? That's what you expect if you have rioters throwing bricks through shop windows and setting cars on fire.

It's just plain over-the-top power tripping by that female police officer.

Cops cannot just arrest you for nothing ... there would be absolute mayhem if they had that power. There has to be a clear charge ... and there has to be sufficient evidence presented. Sounds to me like they could not communicate to her WHY she was being arrested.

Wow, I am surprised that so many people have such a low opinion of police officers. Some people seem to suggest that the police were just walking around looking for a woman to beat up on. I think it is more likely that it wasn't her use of the loophole that got her thrown in the back of the van, but what she did after she was approached by the police. As someone pointed out, probably refused to identify herself, and resisted arrest. Unfortunately, if there was some sort of law in place at the time (like a curfew) that gave police just cause to question her, like it or not, she has to identify herself.

If you don't agree with a law, go ahead and protest, but recognize that things could get ugly, especially if you plan to be uncooperative when confronted by police. For your child's sake, leave them at home.

Well, I was not there, neither was anyone here. We only get to see a very short video of the attempt to arrest a person. The fact that there were as many officers present, makes me believe there was much more going on there, to illicit such a police response. I agree, she was a lady with her child. Perhaps that fact should have played a part in her decisions to conduct herself in such a manner as to cause such a police response.
A normal thinking individual would not put themselves in such a position when their child was present !!??

edit add: I should add I usually support the Police, comes from wearing a uniform for 25 years and understanding the authority it carries. Most of the time I support them 100%. This video however set me off due to the excessive use of power, pulling the child from her and then manhandling her into the van. Totally unnecessary with the amount of officers that were there. They could have en-circled her, let her be and then had the supervisor deal with her verbally. There doesn't appear to be any conversation even attempted.
