Texas cold thread

No one had really answered GW, there are infinite possibilities and possible ways to answer the question.
One way. Simple explanation one sentence explanation of what occurred, without a single word about what/what/where/why, accusations or victim cards.
Then get on to the topic...

When it comes to certain things, whether it's a comment made, or a thread branching off, or a thread derailing, or A to Z.
Often, context and or a persons motivations/intentions, which usually aren't hard to figure out is just as important.

Looks like this thread is about to derail too.

But yes the southern states sure had the daylights beat out of them this week. It’s happened here before and will happen again. As GW said, best to be prepared to look after your household for a while. Most cannot store 6 months worth of food, but most should be able to manage 4-6 weeks.

Spoke to a couple of guys I work with in Houston and Fort Worth and they have power back on, but still on a boiled water ban. Biggest issue for them was freezing pipes - pool pumps because they do not winterize their pools, and they run water pipes through the attic. Other than that they are fine.......stay off the roads and hang right. Lots of backyard fires and cold beer

Anyone who reads my posts would agree that I lean well to the right of centre, but I have to say that I value truth and reality over any ideology.
It’s unfortunate that Republicans are slamming green energy as a major cause of their issues this week. From what I’ve read, their grid just wasn’t built for this kind of weather and demand, which is to be expected.
Rex Murphy’s article leads one to believe that 42% of Texas electricity is normally generated by wind power which I find very difficult to believe. If their grid is outdated and gets wiped out by a solar storm are they going to blame that on green energy too ??

I’m in the fence about global warming, but one thing is clear - they’ve always talked about climate change and shifting weather patterns accompanying a warming trend. One bad week of cold weather should not negate these theories, in the same way that one hot spell doesn’t prove them right.

That's one of the prime reasons why we need to question the Climate Change movement ; most of the longest standing weather record date back pre 1900..long before smokes stacks dotted the horizon. Man doesn't cause or control the weather...

MP. I get what you’re saying, yes it is right to question everything. We can’t control the weather, but we can affect ‘climate ‘. I think that is what you were trying to say but there is a difference between weather and climate. They have seeded clouds to produce moisture.
