A forum member, my dad, has passed away
I've been trying to think for a few days now what to say. This forum provided my dad with communication about topics that he loved, levity when he needed it, and verbal sparring partners when he was up for debating. For years, you guys have been an excellent resource, outlet and community for a man who loved the outdoors and enjoyed those that shared his passion. Retired fire fighter and hero to his only daughter, forum member Jaycee is my dad.
A man with a strong moral code, code of ethics, sense of commitment and a fiercely loyal friend, he taught me so many wonderful life lessons. His friends were my male role models growing up, and for an only child living in the country, these men who all shared those characteristics with my father, they are an excellent circle. I have always felt loved and safe surrounded by that family with my dad at the center.
Dad taught me how to appreciate nature and respect it. That a dog is sometimes the best company. How to be confrontational. How to drive a pick up truck, how to back up said pick up truck with a trailer on it, how to drive out of a spin out in snow with said pick up truck. How to hunt, how to fish. How to appreciate so many types of food. That the good Scotch is the good Scotch for a reason. How to be a loyal friend and to fiercely back your friends up when they need you. That forever means forever. That commitment means you're in, period. I love you, Dad.
